This siren was installed in March 2018 with a grant from Montgomery County.
23 sirens were installed in late February-early March 2018 for the next phase of the county's siren project (sirens in Germantown, German Township, Washington Township/Centerville, Miamisburg, Englewood, and Vandalia all got 2001-130s earlier on between 2009 and 2011), after a $500,000 Homeland Security grant was awarded to the county. Two of the new sirens replaced legacy sirens (in Phillipsburg and Farmersville), while the rest were placed to provide extra coverage or provide a siren to an area without one previously.
This is the only siren out of the 23 that is DC-only, the rest are AC/DC powered.
This is the only siren within Dayton city limits and is owned by UD (a private university in Dayton). It serves as part of the University's Emergency Notification System. This siren made that odd warbling noise when it faced me in real life; that's not a camera glitch. I'm not quite sure why it does that but otherwise it seems to sound fine and was still pretty loud.
This siren is located at UD near Fitz Hall by K St. and the practice field next to the soccer fields.
Sirens in Montgomery County are tested on the First Monday of every month at noon.
