Let's review each episode of the TV show The Venture Bros, the greatest adult animated series ever made!

In Fallen Arches, Doctor Orpheus has finally been approved by the Guild of Calamitous Intent to receive his own archenemy. But only if he gets a team together, thus the Order of the Triad reunites once again. So that SOUNDS like an interesting, and even potentially funny plot. Orpheus has to resume his hero duties so he can have a chance of interviewing his potential nemesis. Once again confirming that heroes and villains in this world are mostly just an act, an excuse for super powered individuals to feel like they're important, while mostly keeping the real world out of things. It's too bad then that this episode is BORING! And not just boring. DEATHLY boring! The kind of boring where this only 22 minute episode feels the length of the extended cut of the Lord of the Rings trilogy! How do you make this idea boring? Easy. You have a scene comprised of two people standing around and talking about what just happened. And then you cut to another scene of two people standing around, talking about what just happened. And then you cut to ANOTHER scene of two people standing around and talking about what just happened. And another. And another. And another. And another. And then you spice things up by interspersing a scene of two people standing around talking with ANOTHER scene of two people standing around talking! That is it. That is the runtime. People talk to each other. They talk about how they haven't seen each other in a while. Or where they got a tape. Or why people should choose their organization to get their villains from. Or their latest invention and what it'll do for the world. Or why they should stop working for the Monarch and freelance as their own jetpack-themed villains. Or, in the case between Dean and his father, where babies come from. Which Dean somehow misinterprets as putting on a performance of Lady Windemere's Fan to impress Triana. Because Hank and Dean are still in full idiot mode following their previous adventure. Which they further prove by then trying to solve the mystery of who stank up their bathroom. I know I said I liked the more laid back episodes where characters just hung around and shot the breeze, but it still felt like we were getting some insight into them and their chemistry with each other. This just feels like two random people saying random things. Like bad improv, where the actors are just told to talk. What about? Anything! We need to make a 13 episode season, and we only have enough material for ten of them, apparently! Even when Doctor Orpheus' team pass and they're ready to interview their villains, it's boring. Because it's, well, structured like an interview! Where most of the villains don't even demonstrate their abilities, they just sit and talk about what they can do. Besides this one fight where the guy is taken out in ten seconds. Yeah, that was worth it. The ONE plot that's worth anything is The Monarch's, who dresses a prostitute like Doctor Girlfriend and forces her to speak like her. Before then showing he's truly snapped as he suddenly launches into a long-winded villain rant and tosses her into a hallway of torture. It's the only part of the episode with anything resembling energy, and even then, it just begins, and then, it just ends. So... That happens. I don't know what else to say. Other than it's impressive we've gotten prime examples of the three flavors of bad comedy in this season. Escape to the House of Mummies annoyed me. Love Bheits disgusted me. And now this one just bored me to literal tears. Which is a shame, because it's also the introduction to Jefferson Twilight, one of my favorite characters in the show. But also the later prominent Sergeant Hatred, one of my least favorites. If you have to watch this one, watch it at double speed. Don't worry, you won't miss a thing. Also, I'm pretty sure I fought this thing in Pikmin.
