A few years back there was a tiny game that took the YouTube horror community by storm and that was Exit 8. Back then I had no experience with Anomaly games and so I had no idea what to expect. Since then I have dipped my toe in a few titles and wanted to finally archive the one that started it all. Now there were anomaly games before Exit 8, but most were static games where you had to look at camera feeds to detect something off.
The cool thing about Exit 8 is that you get to explore the area in real time. This adds an element to it that almost makes it feel like an escape room.
In terms of difficulty it is also not too bad and this game can be completed by both hardcore gamers and a more casual audience.
I know that it spawned many clones and some are good while others are pretty bad. I will definitely archive the sequel Platform 8, but if anyone knows any other good anomaly games, please let me know in the comments.

Today we have something very special to archive. Back when I was a teenager one of my favorite anime was Cowboy Bebop. It was the first time I realized that anime and cartoons also existed that were not necessarily targeting a young audience. The style of the characters was different and the storylines were deep and complex. The cyberpunk style mixed with jazzy tones and wild west themes make Cowboy Bebop still a unique anime that has never been copied.
I was therefore surprised to find out that an actual game was made for the PlayStation 2, but it was never released in the west. Only recently was a translation offered online and with that I could finally archive Cowboy Bebop Serenade of Reminiscence and present it to a western audience. The game plays like a beat em up and we follow our heroes Spike, Faye and Jet as we look for a treasure that is linked to a mysterious song called Diamonds.
The games beat em up action can be a bit repetitive, but I was surprised at how fluid and beautifully animated the combos were. You get to play as all three characters and their move set differs greatly. There are also sections where you get to shoot and these are a bit less optimal as the controls are clunky and the AI is a bit iffy. Then there are moments where you get to steer some flying vehicles and these offer some nice, little variety. Some of the moments can be a bit frustrating and outlast their welcome like when you are controlling Jet and need to find bombs on your ship. Other than that it nails the atmosphere and all the charactes are voiced by their original cast.
It shows great potential and maybe someday we will get a cowboy bebop game with current game technology.
