Split is the second largest city in Croatia, and it features a strong ancient Roman influence. On this tour with our guide "Zoran The Tour Guide," we visited parts of the 1,700-year-old Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace, which is where Diocletian lived and ruled the ancient Roman Empire. He ruled from 284-305 A.D. and was the only Roman Emperor who abdicated his throne. He helped stabilize the Roman Empire but he was also known for persecuting Christians. We visited several parts of the palace and while it's one thing to read about history, it's another to walk where history took place. A very informative tour!
