On March 27–28, 2024 in Washington state, newly released body-camera video shows deputies contacting Janet Garcia at a Ridgefield rehab center during the early investigation into the disappearance of 4-year-old Ariel Garcia from Everett. The next day, Ariel was found dead along I-5 near JBLM; prosecutors later charged Janet with first- and second-degree murder and assault of a child, and she pleaded not guilty.
