Second part, covering the principles of measuring capacity …
↓↓↓ Complete description, time index and links below ↓↓↓
In the first part we went over the basic design of capacitive liquid sensing sensors (link below). Their capacity varies with the dielectric constant of the environment. Now it’s time to think about how to measure those capacity changes.
First I’ll show my new, a little more realistic sensor. Then we talk about how Fluke multimeters measure capacity, only to find out that my Brymen uses a different method. Finally we have a look at different variants of that method.
00:00 Intro – measuring capacity (digitally)
00:35 New sensor – for the following demonstrations
02:59 Constant current charging – complex circuit, simple math
05:31 RC circuit – simple circuit, complex math
12:18 Variants – there’re many ways to skin a cat
19:18 Wrap-up – next up is using a MCU, bye
