Linksys RV042 & Cisco RV042: Brothers from different mothers …

The RV042 was introduced by Linksys around 2004. By this time Cisco owned Linksys for about a year. Cisco continued to sell the RV042 until 2020, long after they resold Linksys in 2013. Through all this RV042 underwent some major changes.

I have here a Linksys RV042 v1.1 from 2007 and a Cisco RV042 V03 from 2014 on my bench. And we’re gonna tear both apart and have a look at their guts. Of course this will include a chip by chip comparison of both units.
