On April 20, 2024. An officer from the Sparta Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for dark window tint. The officer approached the vehicle and saw three occupants inside. The driver (Braylon) stated that he parched the vehicle with the tint installed and provided his license. While speaking with the backseat passenger, the officer noticed a container and asked to see it. The passenger handed it to the officer and it had a label which read THC: 14.70% and CBD: 0.00%.
The officer then asked Braylon to exit the vehicle and asked if there was anything illegal in his car. Braylon initially stated there was nothing illegal but later admitted to having marijuana in the trunk after the officer said he was going to be searching the vehicle. When asked whose it was, Braylon stated that there was about an ounce and that it was everyone's. He stated that it was 4-20 and he was going to visit some friends to smoke with.
Braylon was then searched while another officer had the other two passengers exit the vehicle. Officers then searched the vehicle and located marijuana in multiple containers and two fake IDs with Braylon’s information. Braylon and his passengers all admitted that the marijuana was everyone's in the vehicle. They were all cited for possession of THC and Braylon was given an additional citation for ID Card Violations. The officer also gave Braylon a warning for his window tint before allowing them to leave.
