This little Brown Shrike whom I met on my way to work for the past couple of months finally left Singapore in mid May.
It had been a regular in my daily routine. On my way to work in the early morning, I would see it sitting pretty on the fencing by the road side, swinging its tail gaily as it watched the world go by. It appeared pretty much at home in suburban Singapore , a testament to this species' ability to adapt to all kinds of habitat.
I will miss its joie de vivre, and particularly, that especially adorable silver helmet of a head.
Brown Shrikes are regular migrants to Singapore, but this Brown Shrike is special, it has a grey washed crown instead of the usual brown, suggesting that it is of ssp lucionensis. This subspecies is uncommon in Singapore.
