At an average of 10 cm, this small & flighty bird is easily told apart from other White-eyes by its distinctive black forehead & lores. Its namesake prominent white eye-ring, a bright yellow throat, pure white underbelly annd olive-green upper back complete its striking looks.
Although I met this little bird in a cultivated flower garden, its natural habitat is stated as lowland rainforests and open woodlands.
This subspecies Z.A. sulaensis is endemic to the Sula islands of Indonesia.
