UK Secretary of State Edward Miliband said the United Kingdom stands with Europe in defence of shared values, security and support for Ukraine.
Speaking at the Informal Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers — Gymnich in Druids Glen, County Wicklow, Ireland, Miliband said he was attending on behalf of the United Kingdom as a “proud European.”
He said Britain’s interests — on trade, foreign policy, security and defence — are tied to a stronger and deeper relationship with the European Union.
Miliband also referred to Germany’s announcement that Russia was behind the drone attack in Leipzig, warning that Moscow is trying to divide Europe and deter countries from supporting Ukraine.
His message on behalf of the UK was clear and defiant: Russia’s attempt to split Europe will fail.
At a time of war, sabotage and hybrid threats, Britain says it wants closer cooperation with the EU — and a united European response in support of Ukraine.
