EU High Representative Kaja Kallas warned that Europe still faces critical defence capability gaps and must move faster to close them.

Speaking at the Informal Meeting of Defence Ministers in Druids Glen, County Wicklow, Ireland, Kallas said ministers need to discuss how to strengthen Europe’s defence readiness and accelerate the process of filling those gaps.

She stressed that improving capabilities is essential if Europe wants to be more credible in deterring attacks and provocations.

But Kallas also made clear that this cannot be done by institutions alone.

It will require serious effort from all EU Member States.

Her message was direct: Europe must act faster, invest smarter and close its defence gaps — because credible deterrence depends on real capabilities.
