In April 1959, Brigitte Bardot touched down in London en route to RAF Abingdon, where she joined RAF pilots to film Jet Storm, a British aviation drama set amid the tensions of the early jet age. The production was made with the close cooperation of the Royal Air Force, using an operational station, real aircraft and serving personnel to lend authenticity, while Bardot’s presence caused considerable media excitement, bringing international glamour to a working RAF base and creating a striking intersection of Cold War military life and 1950s celebrity culture.
