Somewhat of a back to the roots recording for Babyface (a/k/a Kenneth Edmonds) as this song was originally released by Shalamar on Solar Records in 1980. It was a track from their album, “Three For Love”. Babyface released his debut solo album on Solar Records, “Lovers”, in 1986. The following year, he and L.A Reid produced some of the tracks on Shalamar’s “Circumstantial Evidence” album.
“This Is For The Lover In You” reached #6 on the Hot-100 and #12 in the UK. Babyface was assisted by Howard Hewett, Jody Watley and Jeffrey Daniels (all members of Shalamar at the time of their 1980 recording).
