In this video I go over 5 mobility exercises that I’m a big fan of sharing with people who need to improve posture. Truth be told, the sole purpose of mobility exercises is to improve the range of motion for your joints, but they also can be used to strengthen lengthened/weakened muscles and stretch overused/tight muscles to correct muscular imbalances, helping you improve posture.
There are A LOT more than 5 exercises I could share on this topic, but these 5 are a great start. Aside from improving mobility, they can also be used as posture exercises at home. If you do a lot of sitting, hunching, slouching and staring down at your cell phone, you’ll want to give these 5 mobility exercises a shot. Those daily habits are actually dangerous for our posture, which will in turn limit our mobility over time. As your mobility becomes more and more limited, your approach to exercise needs to change. Rather than focusing on going beast mode, building muscles, achieving crazy skills and so on, you need to step back and first focus on achieving a solid foundation of mobility so you can work towards those goals without getting stuck - or worse - suffering an injury.
Here are the 5 mobility exercises I share in this video (with time stamps):
00:00 Intro & The Mobility-Posture Connection
02:08 Prone Scorpion
04:38 Half-Kneeling Hip Flexor Stretch with Arm Circles
06:35 Tables
08:03 Chin Tucks
09:05 Scapular Wall Presses
10:05 Outro
