Over the course of our 30 year endeavors, I've had the distinct pleasure of interviewing bands from a variety of Texas metal scenes; from SA to Austin, from El Paso to the RGV & from Houston to Corpus Christi. It is the latter which has ALWAYS captivated me with a history that too dates back to the 80's with band's like Angkor Wat & Devastation laying the foundation of an infatuation CC fans have for ALL things heavy. In fact, in the early days of RMW the Crew would often visit CC to work a variety of tours that missed SA; AND, what I quickly realized is the utter gritty brutality of their fans. There was a legit fan base in CC & what I needed & wanted to do next was tap into the conscience of local musicians in the area; specifically, to discern what drove their brutal musical desires. Over the years, that undertaking has been slow, so when celebrated locals, ZombieKing, sent their LATEST offering over I was especially excited! I found the band's 5-song EP, 'The Reveling' to be an exuberant piece of work with versatile guitar work, a strong & charismatic voice & MOST of ALL songs that truly hooked me with their vicious melodic vigor. It ALL made this EP quite easy to digest, learn & keep on repeat. Produced & engineered by the seasoned (& revered), Robert Beltran, 'The Reveling' ALSO sounds AMAZING on the stereo giving listeners a broad breadth of sonic landscape coupled with precise dynamics. I knew I wanted to talk about this release & give ZK BOTH their rightful props on a splendid piece of work AND officially hail them as one of the most promising bands to EVER come out of that part of Texas. SO, on October 17th, 2025 I invited drummer, Adan Pena, & guitarist/mastermind, Eddie Salinas to the RMW Studio to discuss it ALL.
