The divergence of metal music over the past 2 decades in some regards has been overwhelming; and, while I try to maintain loyalty to my roots, I can ONLY welcome the new breeds & medley of contemporary genres. One of the new genres that genuinely pushes the boundaries is grindcore OR what others may call powerviolence, slam OR deathgrind; and one band that's been at the forefront for almost a decade is Massachusetts based band, Escuela Grind. Fronted by one of the MOST vicious frontwomen in the worldwide scene, Katerina Economou, & backed by the brutal riffage of guitarist, Kris Morash, & the consistent beats of Jesse Fuentes, EG has not only managed to build a SOLID fanbase, but with their 3rd OFFICIAL, FULL length release, 'Dreams On Algorithms' have unequivocally justified their rightful position atop this competitive style. I have been a fan for several years & despite many unsuccessful attempts to get the band on the program (due to scheduling), we were FINALLY fortunate enough to catch up with them during the The Summer Slaughter Tour's recent stop here in San Antonio.
