What's up Geekly Goods fam! 👀 SO... WHY DIDN'T MARVEL JUST MAKE BLADE?! We just watched the trailer for Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, and it's honestly making that question hit even harder.
The film stars Mahershala Ali as Latif, a devoutly religious hitman whose entire life gets upended after the sudden death of his wife. Left to care for his newborn and two other children, Latif is forced into a desperate journey across Houston, protecting his family from enemies closing in while wrestling with the very beliefs that have shaped who he is. It's written and directed by Bassam Tariq, and this is where the story gets really interesting: Tariq was previously attached to direct Ali in Marvel's long-in-development Blade movie before that project fell apart. When Blade stalled out, the two of them reunited to make this instead, essentially channeling all of that action-hero energy into an entirely original story.
Watching this trailer, you can genuinely feel Ali finally getting to fully lean into that intense, physical, badass energy that Blade fans have been waiting years to see from him. It's just happening in a completely different movie. Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother hits select theaters September 25th before expanding nationwide in October.
