Yellowstone stars will return for spinoff without Kevin Costner
Yellowstone 2024, the follow-up series to Yellowstone, reportedly cast the three major stars from Taylor Sheridan's critically acclaimed television series.
The casts of the Yellowstone spinoff, which will pick up where Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 left off, appear to have locked down Cole Hauser, Kelly Reilly, and Luke Grimes (who play Rip, Beth, and Kayce, respectively).
Naturally, Kevin Costner is not included in this. He left Yellowstone in 2023 following claims of wage discrimination and scheduling issues.
According to a Puck story, the three cast members of Yellowstone have concluded their current wage discussions and will return to their roles in Yellowstone 2024.
If accurate, this would support one of the most popular hypotheses regarding the sequel series: that Taylor Sheridan could be able to carry on with his story of a rancher without having to worry about any legal ramifications from Kevin Costner's absence. (This would explain why, after Costner's departure, he canceled the series so quickly.)
Though neither celebrity has officially signed on, this is the same project that is expected to star Matthew McConaughey and Michelle Pfeiffer as the stars. It appears that before formally joining, both are awaiting the locking down of scripts.
As of this writing, neither Paramount nor Sheridan have confirmed this claim, but for fans of the Western program, this would be a great update. Fans adore Rip, Beth, and Kayce, so having them in 2024 would establish a strong link between the original series and 2024.
Although the release date and content have not yet been confirmed, this news suggests that the story may pick up just where Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 left off.
