Kevin Costner Gets Candid About 'Yellowstone' in First-Ever 'Armchair Expert' Interview
Star of Yellowstone, Kevin Costner, has been touring the globe to promote Horizon: An American Saga, his new film, while filming for the show's final episodes has resumed in Montana. The actor is thinking back on his time on the Paramount Network drama after he received a standing ovation for seven minutes during the Cannes premiere of the first part of the huge four-movie project.
Kevin talked candidly about Yellowstone on a recent Dax Shepherd edition of Armchair Expert. He tells how he was questioned about his commitment to the show by hundreds of prospective advertisers in Europe prior to the start of the first season's filming. After deciding to remain on for three seasons, he had originally agreed to one. He declared, "I was initially asked if I wanted to be in seven [seasons]." No, it's not happening, I said. Alright, five. It's not taking place. I was against baiting and switching. I pledged to carry it out. Thus, I said, "Give me three."
The actor finally filmed five seasons, however it's unclear if he was involved in the most recent episodes. "What happened was that I simply had faith in the world. It was a soap opera, I knew that. I knew we ought to be all behind bars. There, we've all killed folks. So you reject reasoning, is that correct? A tiny bit," he remarked. "However, Taylor Sheridan has an excellent ear, and he just penned that stuff with such authenticity." It was also enjoyable. He also did a really good job writing Kelly [Reilly's] and my parts. So, let me tell you, I really enjoyed doing it.It was excellent. That was something I realized. Thus, I tried my hardest to do it."
Fans are hoping that when Yellowstone returns in November, Kevin will make an appearance in the last episodes of the show. Meanwhile, on June 28, the first Horizon film opens in theaters.
