On May 19, 2025. Officers from the Waunakee Police Department were dispatched to the report of a suspected intoxicated driver. The caller reported that a white female, approximately 30 years old, wearing a “Dog Mom” shirt, had left a local bar in a white Toyota Prius highly intoxicated. According to the caller, bar staff attempted to prevent her from driving by taking her keys, but she exposed herself to patrons before getting into her vehicle and leaving the area.
The officer located the suspected vehicle swerving between lanes of traffic and conducted a traffic stop. As the officer made contact with the driver (Elizabeth), he immediately detected the strong odor of alcohol emitting from the vehicle. It was noted that she had bloodshot glassy eyes and that she was slurring her words. Elizabeth denied consuming alcohol and stated that she did not just leave the bar.
Elizabeth was asked to step out of the car and refused to do field sobriety tests. Officers determined that she was likely intoxicated and placed Elizabeth under arrest for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. She was secured in handcuffs and searched before being secured in a squad car. Nothing of evidential value was located on her person but an officer observed a marijuana pipe in plain view on the center console of her vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a THC vape pen and a marijuana pipe.
Elizabeth was then transported to the Waunakee Police Department where she refused to submit to a chemical test of her breath. While at the police department, Elizabeth attempted to lay on the ground and take a nap. Officers informed her that she could not do that and needed to sit in a chair. Officers got a warrant for Elizabeth’s blood and transported her to the hospital. After the blood draw, Elizabeth was transported back to the Waunakee Police Department to wait for a responsible party to pick her up.
It was later discovered that Elizabeth exposed herself after speaking with an employee of the bar.
She was found guilty for OWI (3rd) and Refuse to Take Test for Intoxication After Arrest. Elizabeth was sentenced to 4 months in jail, her license got revoked for 5 years, and she was required to pay $1,900 in fines.
