On May 30, 2024. A deputy from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The deputy also saw the passenger holding something up to the driver's mouth with a lighter. When he activated his emergency lights, the driver began to flee before another deputy was able to successfully do a pit maneuver. Both the male driver (Daniel), and the female passenger (Megan) were given commands to exit the vehicle and were detained in separate squad cars. Both were questioned and Daniel was taken to the hospital for medical clearance before being transported to the Walworth County Jail. Four days later, the arresting deputy went to the County Jail to interview Daniel about what occurred. A search of the vehicle revealed just over 2 ounces of cocaine. Daniel was found guilty for Vehicle Operator Flee/Elude Officer, OWI (3rd), Ignition Interlock Device Tampering/Failure to Install/Violate Court Order, and Operating While Revoked. Charges for Possess with Intent to deliver Cocaine (Greater than 40g) and 2nd-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety were dismissed in court. He was sentenced to 1.5 years in the Wisconsin state prison, 120 days at the Walworth County Jail, 3.5 years of probation, and he was ordered to pay $2400 in fines. The female passenger Megan is currently in custody on multiple drug charges from an incident that occurred on a different date.
