Went out to Waverly today to hear my first 2910. Technically, this siren is located in Pee Pee Township (yes, that is the actual name of the township, and it's actually supposed to be someone's initials), since it is outside village limits on the campus for the local school district.
This particular unit was installed in 2017 by the Waverly City School District as part of school safety upgrades being done to the Waverly City Schools campus, which houses the elementary, middle, and high school. The siren is owned and operated by the district, but is also tied into the Village of Waverly's system. The 2910 can be activated by and utilized by school district personnel to broadcast emergency voice messages and other tones to alert staff and students of an emergency. This siren is located behind the high school building near the baseball fields.
Overall, I was rather disappointed that Waverly's sirens only run for a short, 10 second blast (if you count the wind up and wind down as well), considering I drove over an hour to get here. Because the blast was so short, I didn't really have time to gauge how loud this siren was, but when I had my hearing protection off it didn't seem as loud as I had expected it to be, which means it either has blown drivers or Whelens just aren't very loud to me.
The two Whelen 4004's located in the village both do the same short blast for weekly tests. Those 4004's are 465 Hz units running off a digital ESC-864. Anyways, enjoy!
All three sirens in Waverly are tested every Friday at noon, weather-permitting, for a short alert blast. Tests will be cancelled for thunder and lightning but the village will still test if it's raining out.
