For the first test of 2021 and the first Saturday in January, I decided to go out to a Vortex in Clinton County.
Originally, Jeremy, Dominic, and I were going to meet up at the one at the Shopping Center south of town that replaced a 2T22, but I was unsure if it would work and decided to go to a different Vortex instead.
Not much to say other than this is probably the loudest 435 Hz Vortex I have ever heard and the echoes during air horn were insane.
The 3 signals utilized during the test mean different things. Alert will be used if the NWS issues a tornado warning, airhorn will be used if there is a Hazmat situation or Chemical Emergency, and Hi-Lo is the all-clear signal. The mechanical sirens just do three alerts, however.
Clinton County tests their sirens on the First Saturday of every month at noon, weather-permitting. This siren is located at Roy E. Holmes Elementary School.
