Mental health related problems have suffered a long history of stigma. What makes matters worse is the dominant narrative, the biggest story that is spun about mental health is flat out wrong. Anxiety, depression, fears, phobias, schizophrenia, OCD, and other diagnoses are not a disease and striving for the absence of mental health symptoms has not proven to be effective. In this video I talk about new contextual ways of thinking, using psychological flexibility to address the concerns of mental health related problems to increase quality of life through higher functioning rather than focusing on the elimination of symptoms.
