Dominic LeBlanc goes so far back with the Liberal Party of Canada that he *babysat* Justin Trudeau for Pierre Trudeau, before going on to an illustrious career that's spanned everywhere from some of the world's best law schools to special advisor to Jean Chretien to finally the House of Commons, where he's served since 2000 as an MP.
The urban Quebec-based lawyer has not shown much interest in guns since taking office; rising a few times in 2009 to speak against the dismantling of the long gun registry by Stephen Harper - basically a necessity for a Quebec-based LPC politician at the time. He's largely been silent on the subject since.
Rumour has it he asked for this role, which makes total sense, given he's already heavily involved in the government's work on the foriegn interference file and it's on this file that he is likely expected to focus... but what does that mean for C-21, CFAC, and the potential OIC? Hard to say, but surely some of those responsibilities were already being farmed out to staff... surely?
