Now that #c21 has passed the second reading, it will land before the Senate's Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Veterans Affairs (SECD) shortly after Parliament resumes in the fall.
While this process mimics that of the Parliamentary committee, it's crucially different insofar as Senators are (somewhat) less partisan than Parliamentarians. And, in the case of SECD, the current makeup leaves a lot of potential for amendments, even if the Independent Senators Group votes as a block to support the Liberal party they once belonged to.
And, with a few months' reprieve during the summer recess, gun owners should endeavour to contact every member of SECD at the very least, to raise the various issues with C-21 and ensure that Canada's house of sober second thought has all the facts at their disposal when they reconvene and begin their study of the bill this fall.
