Even after announcing that an elected Conservative government would maintain the gun ban put in place by Justin Trudeau last year, Erin O'Toole's Conservatives still face questions over their policy on firearms, this time from confused gun owners.
We'll discuss the quite literal changes made to the CPC campaign policy on guns, as well as statements released by Conservative Party MPs, and what this change might mean for Canadian gun owners' immediate futures, in all practical reality.
All this aside, the CPC remains the best option for gun owners, as the current polling (and every election outcome in Canadian history) indicates that the next Prime Minister will be either a Tory or a Grit. And while Bernier's PPC seems to be showing a small gain in the polls, they remain statistically insignificant in this election. Perhaps most interestingly, most polls do not show any reduction in declared support for the CPC, meaning this change in stance by the O'Toole Conservatives has likely had the desired effect of staunching any bleeding caused by Liberal gun attacks but has it succeeded in pivoting the campaign back towards the urban centres and more popular (and relevant) topics of healthcare, affordability, etc? Well, I guess that'll be something to talk about tomorrow!
