President Trump has announced his intent to institute a 25% tariff on American exports to Canada on February 1st, and our government has pledged to match those tariffs "dollar for dollar" - meaning things like ammunition, reloading components, and of course, many firearms and accessories could be set to get a lot more expensive. For example, if Trudeau follows through on his pledge to match tariffs, $100 USD worth of ammunition will carry a cost of $201 if sold in Ontario - before shipping, or importer or retail profit margins have been applied.
22LR, primers, powder, and less-common calibres are likely to be most heavily impacted, as they are more expensive to ship in from overseas, and are not produced domestically - so as the saying goes, "buy it cheap, stack it deep," because neither guns nor ammo will ever be cheaper than it is today.
