Team: Benkei, Xingcai, Yukimura Sanada
Did one of the DLC levels for a change. The team composition is as stock standard as you could possibly get: Benkei for speed movement, two infinite jumpers for... infinite jumping.
This stage has two garrison gates to get over. First is medium-high, the second is small. Sadly, the these two obstacles are fairly far apart, can't be breached with garrison clip, and the level has no ladders either for starting angled glitch either, so I figured just doing two individual jumps is the best approach here.
This route could certainly go sub 38 with small things like starting IJs sooner, sacrificing IJ height for faster execution or navigating more precisely, but for some reason I seemed to hit a wall and could no longer squeeze a lower time in this level within a few hours of attempts. So this will do for now.
I figure you might be able to use Wang Yi zipping in this level to either save time in some navigation stretch or pop directly into the final boss garrison, but figuring out a route for that is a task for another day.
0:00 - A small detail that's relevant from the very start: every time you have to change characters to restart Benkei's air special, bumping into an enemy likely saves a small amount of time since that way you do a switch attack and get to keep moving while restarting the air special.
0:13 - I change characters one extra time here to do a Benkei air special at full speed down the ledge. Gotta be careful to not bump into a random torch here and lose all your speed.
0:15 - The right side of the bridge has a weird "invisible wall" that can catch Benkei, so it's safer try to go by the left side if you can.
0:18 - A navigational shortcut over the river. Basically, I start a horizontal IJ to jump across the river instead of crossing the second bridge and taking a slightly longer route with Benkei. You can get by with just 5 air specials total if you use the height extension trick with Xingcai, don't randomly drop height at any point and finish with Benkei's air special since it has that convenient burst height gain.
My first route of this level used Hanzo Hattori instead of Yukimura Sanada since he is better at pure height gain. However, the fastest time I ever achieved using that team was 39.50. Being able to do the navigation shortcut with Yukimura Sanada is maybe 1-2 seconds faster as a whole.
0:30 - I try to swerve quite heavily to the right after the jump to get to higher ground as soon as possible. Then start another horizontal IJ to get over the gate.
0:40 - Out of the two characters I have for fighting, I think Yukimura Sanada is slightly more efficient than Xingcai. My tactic is to do one regular attack followed by ground special to defeat Dong Zhuo for once and for all. I take a pat on the head from Lu Bu for a job well done and go on my way.
