You can start carrying unintentional things like various level objects using a glitch tactic.
0:00 - most objects that you can pick up and throw in this game are various types of urns. They immediately shatter upon hitting the wall or the floor, and can't be used for this glitch.
Instead, what you need is a small fence, which is an unique object that only shatters when hitting a floor after a throw. Since it spends longer in air, you have time to become idle before it lands, and can thus use the pick-up prompt to start carrying it again at the same time as it gets wrecked.
The wrecked fence that you are carrying will become replaced by some different object from the current map after it unloads. Sometimes this object is some vacuous particle effect or even something completely invisible, giving the impression of carrying nothing. But, at other times, the effects are a bit more noticeable... I'm still not quite sure what influences which items you get, it might be too random to control outside tool-assisted conditions. At least, I think the different fences have different potential for which items can end up in Mathayus' hands when doing the glitch.
On this first attempt, a strange semi-transparent shadow blob appears in Mathayus' hands.
0:30 - changing rooms resets all item placements and thus ends the glitch.
0:36 - on the second attempt, I start carrying the save point. This might be one of the more interesting outcomes for this glitch, since you can use the save point once you drop it somewhere.
Saving & reloading returns you to the original coordinates of the save point with everything normal again, but still, I can't help but feel it might produce interesting outcomes if you took a save point inside a boss battle or another scripted event and saved and warped away from there at a wrong time.
1:15 - carrying the shield power-up. It keeps sinking lower and lower for some reason as you're holding it, and it will eventually go below the floor. Mathayus can only pick up the shield as a regular power-up once it's out of his hands.
1:37 - picking up a door object. I'm not sure why, or if this can happen with other objects / doors as well, but at least this door will teleport back to its original location.
2:15 - while a door is in your hands, the doorway it was previously blocking is open and can be ran into. But, as mentioned in the previous video, this game doesn't have regular loading zones, and this isn't usually helpful. You can rarely go out of bounds from behind an open doorway, though.
You can use a displaced door like normal to move between rooms, although height might be an issue when trying to use it.
2:45 - picking up an entire palm tree. Mathayus is surely the strongest man in the kingdom. Although, it seems like the tree no longer has any collision after you have moved it.
3:09 - picking up a straw hut. This as well as some other objects like awnings and small pedestals, retain their collision after being dropped, and you could potentially use them for platforming or clipping walls with the right positioning.
As for the limitations of this glitch? For now, I've never seen Mathayus pick up heftier walls like rising / lowering barricades, which is a pity, since transporting those might be one speedrun relevant use for this exploit. I've never seen Mathayus pick up other normally pickable objects like urns through this glitch. Not sure what might happen if you tried out this glitch in a room with enemies - could enemies become picked up as well?
(Not on the vid: one time I managed to pick up a light object which was invisible besides the light it cast. Later I also managed to pick up one of those cracks in the wall which conceal power-ups.)
(Not on the vid: this glitch can be done with almost any non-urn object that you can carry. However, some objects have a different type of collision, and they will push you into air if you're too close to them as they fall down and shatter, thus preventing you from picking them up. To avoid this, don't be too close to the wall as you throw the item.)
