From 1967 to 1969, the Vietnam War entered a decisive phase, as large‑scale combat intensified and American public perceptions of the conflict changed dramatically. During this period, ITN correspondents and camera crews reported from across the country, documenting the conflict’s frontline realities and its impact on South Vietnamese society.
In 1967, US commanders insisted that sustained military pressure was weakening the communist insurgency, a narrative dramatically challenged by the Tet Offensive of January 1968. By 1969, as troop levels neared their peak and heavy fighting persisted, ITN’s reports captured a war marked by mounting human cost amid American efforts to find a political exit from the conflict. Including previously unreleased footage of Khe Sanh in April 1968, presented here is the complete collection of ITN Archive’s series on the Vietnam War during the pivotal period of 1967–1969.
