Being one of the first tracks I wrote for Evi2, Dust Devil was one of the first that I started work on for this album, actually in early 2023, before the WAD was released! I think for this track I just put the drums, strings and flute in and then stopped working on it because y'know, I needed to write the actual soundtrack in the first place otherwise this was going to be a very short album!
The guitar solo was written by playing it and then transcribing that into the original MIDI, so it was one of the easier ones to record. I think it's a good showcase of where my guitar playing was at when I wrote the track in late '22, maybe a bit more sophisticated than most solos I played before... I definitely feel that I became a better guitarist while making this album, which I'm really happy about.
