Atmosphere is my personal favourite of my contributions to TNT: Revilution. Inspired by Stuart Rynn's MIDIs (particularly Sewers), this piece was a return to music after a burnout that lasted for about three months.
When I first made it, it felt like the beginning of a second chapter in my journey with creating music, and the original video on my old channel was the first to be mixed with those ever so bright orange headphones I'm still using today, and they made such a huge difference, I opted to start making videos with pretty HD wallpapers instead of the awful low-res Terragen art I was making myself before.
To my surprise, upon Revilution's release, the praise for my work (which I really appreciate, thank you everyone!) seemed to actually surround Ionian Isolation and Darkest Hour. Hell, I didn't think ANYONE was going to hear Darkest Hour beyond the first few seconds, what with it being an intermission track. It's Atmosphere though, that went on to shape a lot of my future work. For example, 0:34 here is the first time I used the iv-VI-I chord progression, and I've lost count how many times I've used it since. The Last Sunset is effectively Atmosphere II, as I was actively trying to reuse the elements I liked while introducing some new stuff as well.
Remaking it for this channel was one of the easiest yet. I started working on this immediately after Eye of the Storm went up. One day for the programmed instruments (drums, strings, etc), another for the bass - which I did in a single take - and most of the keyboards. Then I just needed a little more time for the double piano part and the guitar solo. All in all I'm very happy with how this has turned out. It was one of the tracks I was most looking forward to, so despite the very short time it was made in, I was being extra-careful this time.
So naturally something had to go wrong at some point, and indeed my punishment for doing the entire bass part in one go and in one attempt was that the video was very screwed up. At some point I also lost the list of links for the images. I'm kinda stressed out at the moment as it is, I didn't need this :(
Well anyway, it's the audio that matters above all, and making THAT was an absolute blast, so I hope you all enjoy hearing this as much as I did making it. Thanks once again, stay tuned for more of my Revilution work.
