Track 2 from "The Origin: Music from Eviternity II".
This track, as I think many people know, wasn't written for Eviternity II, with the MIDI dating back 2017 and already seeing use in some Doom WADs such as Tangerine Nightmare and 1000 Lines 2, but to leave it out of the album just wouldn't have been right. I made the ruined Elysium specifically with this track in mind from the start, after all.
I also already made a non-MIDI rendition of the track back in 2019, around the same time I started working on what soon became Eviternity II's MAP01, but I didn't want to just throw that on the album with no changes, especially since it was also included on the "2017 compilation" I put up on Bandcamp a few years ago.
So what we have here is an updated version, using the 2019 non-MIDI as a base, featuring the same double keyboard recording I did back then (fortunately I still had the source video files!)
I think the 2019 version sounded bigger, which in hindsight isn't really in keeping with my own interpretation of this track, so this one is a bit quieter and more stripped back, closer to the original MIDI.
