"Dust Devil" from MAP09 of Eviternity II.
Quetzalcoatl was the second map made for Eviternity II, and Dust Devil also happens to be the second MIDI I made for the project! The MIDI was written over about two weeks in October-November 2022.
Most of the desert episode was still being made but knowing this would be the penultimate map, I felt the music should have a bit more weight to it - this would be the desert episode's metal track. I played through the map a few times while listening to Jimmy's "Dark Angel," which I felt had a suitable blend of metal and the typical "desert sound" (phrygian and harmonic minor scales lol). I liked how the two went together, so I made a start on my own take on the mid-tempo desert metal thing.
I really wanted to do my best work in Eviternity II, especially with how much my output had been lacking during that time and my feelings towards making music in general. I started working on this MIDI pretty much immediately after finishing the MAP10 track, and I was so happy with both tracks; I felt like I was off to a really good start :)
