"Giestrandæg" from MAP17 of Eviternity II.
Another late entry to the soundtrack, this MIDI was written in about six hours on December 3, 2023, one week before release. For MAP17 I wanted something that would have a strong contrast against the following map, for which I had already done the music for, so while MAP18 is sombre, gloomy, and very orchestra oriented, the MAP17 track focuses more on a less downcast tone and incorporates more traditional/folk elements - I basically wrote it as a spiritual sequel to "Our Final Dance," a MIDI I wrote for the 1000 Lines 3 megawad, which was spearheaded by MAP17's author, Liberation.
The title, "Giestrandæg," comes from Old English and means "Yesterday," referencing both the medieval theme of the episode and the time travel that takes place in MAP17 itself.
