Paul sat in a Roman prison cell, chained to a guard, and wrote nine verses that contain the most audacious claims about power in the entire New Testament. He didn't pray for freedom. He didn't pray for comfort. He prayed for eyes. Specifically, he asked God to illuminate the hearts of believers so they could see three invisible realities that most Christians have never been taught. A hope rooted in the Exodus. An identity hidden in an ancient Hebrew word most people have never heard. And a power so immense that Paul had to stack four Greek words on top of each other just to describe it.
In this video, I walk through Ephesians 1:15-23 line by line and show you what Paul actually prayed for, why it has almost nothing to do with what most of us ask God for, and how this single prayer connects to Psalm 110, Psalm 8, Daniel 7, Deuteronomy, and the Exodus. Once you see the pattern Paul is drawing on, it will change the way you talk to God.
