THEY FAKED OUT THE WHOLE TEAM 🤯

The play, which the Rams called "Mountaineer," took advantage of a highly predictable tendency from Seahawks punter Jon Ryan. Through film study, Rams special teams coordinator John Fassel noticed that whenever Ryan punted from near midfield, his rugby-style kicks almost always went to the defensive right.

To exploit this, the Rams executed a masterful decoy scheme. Rams returner Tavon Austin lined up on the left side of the field and aggressively faked like he was tracking and catching an incoming football. Austin's acting was so convincing that virtually the entire Seahawks coverage unit—along with the Fox television camera operator—chased after him. In reality, the ball sailed completely to the opposite side of the field. Bailey quietly peeled off, waited near the sideline at the 10-yard line, and caught the uncontested ball. With the entire defense stranded on the wrong side of the field, Bailey walked down the sideline untouched for an easy 90-yard touchdown.
