We continue the story of Kate Walker as we archive Syberia 2. Recently I archived the first part in its remastered form and this is the original that came out over 20 years ago. It is a direct continuation as we follow Kate, Oscar and Hans on their long journey to reach Syberia. We start out in a small mining village as our train needs maintenance through the game we meet loads of interesting people and have to solve various puzzles.
The game is obviously very old in design as this is the original title and that means that you sometimes cannot complete a quest or puzzle, because you simply did not ask the specific question to a specific person. This can be a bit frusttrating and some of the puzzles feel very much like trial and error, but overal the pacing was good and the locations varied with a satisfying ending.
I do think it has not aged that well in parts like puzzle design and backtracking, but it is still enjoyable for those who are into adventure games. I am looking forward to playing Syberia 3 as that will hopefully provide a more modern take on this interesting story.
