Oh heck, what hit me! Why, that sneaky Splat Roller. I return to burst the Rainmaker free again, and to keep an eye out for the Splat Roller and their Curling Bombs. I'm already nervous about them. But I look forwards and help provide cover for our Rainmaker to move ahead, nearly splatting the Splat Roller as I do. We lose the Rainmaker, and the Splat Roller approaches from a different angle. I'm paying attention, so notice it, but still have to withdraw as the green team make advances. The Splat Roller is on our ledge, and helps their Rainmaker break the checkpoint.
My Wellstring battles a Crab for the Rainmaker shield, doing well to hold its own, but I'm still looking out for the Splat Roller. And, sure enough, they are trying to flank us again. I change my focus, and things seem okay, so shift back to where my squidmates have rushed the Rainmaker forwards and broken our own checkpoint. Nice! The green team recover the Rainmaker but don't get far, and we fight to recover it for ourselves. I hit the Rainamker while keeping an eye out for threats, as a squidmate sacrifices themselves to pick up the Rainmaker just beyond the checkpoint to steal the lead. I look back that way, and there's the Splat Roller. I'm not quick enough to splat them.
The Splat Roller is forging a path forwards, and causing problems. I return to deal with those problems, made greater by the Clash Blaster super-jumping in to their Bubble. Fortunately, I manage to push the Splat Roller back and dodge to the side of the Clash Blaster. Unfortunately, I find myself alone. I manage to hold my turf, and even get the jump on the Clash Blaster, as I wait for my squidmates to return. I keep holding the turf, as the green team creep the Rainmaker our way, doing well not to be suckered forwards, splatting the Clash Blaster vanguard and assisting with the splat of the Rainmaker before they threaten our lead.
I burst the Rainmaker free but leave it where it sits for the moment, not wanting to leap forwards in to a mess of green. I am mildly surprised by a green Curling Bomb going past me, and react quickly to dodge out of the way of the inevitable Splat Roller following behind. I swap sides for the moment, thinking the Splat Roller will come back around, while keeping an eye on the Rainmaker's progress. Our defence holds, and once we get some splats, including a squidmate dealing with the Splat Roller behind us, our position is a lot stronger.
A squidmate grabs the Rainmaker and dashes forwards, extending our lead nicely, and with some more splats it looks like we may even make it to the podium. We don't quite reach it before the Rainmaker is dropped again, and this time I am quickly disavowed of the idea to keep the push going. I almost manage to run away, if not for a pause, and I get my revenge from a Wave Breaker. Time is running out too, and quickly enough that the green team's idea to reset the Rainmaker does not work out for them, leaving it in its shield in the middle of the Resort. Woomy!

![Splatoon 3: Too close at the end in Clam Blitz [19(4)-10, Tri-slosher]
I fear the Inkbrush, and not just in Clam Blitz. At least I have Toxic Mist to slow them down. And, naturally, they are the first to create a power clam, just as the splatling is atop the perch. I sit back in defence, letting my Toxic Mist make things difficult, but dont see the Nautilus drop down. I try to run away from them, not quite making it. The attack comes, but my squidmates are equal to it. I return and help repel the Nautilus and the final power clam, and try to turn our defence to attack. I find clams, ink turf, and push forwards, but my approach is a little too obvious. I return and dash back towards the purple basket, a dropped power clam tempting me in, hoping the purple team think we have abandoned it. Indeed, the Flingza Roller pulls out Tenta Missiles and looks vulnerable, but I run in to the Inkbrush, and cant compete head-on.
Our Splat Charger is doing well, I see. They splat the Nautilus, and then the Flingza Roller before I can get close. I ink some turf instead, as I can do that. I can also push forwards, and this time I surge past potential attackers, and from the side I get one splat, and some persistence a second, finding myself under the purple basket. I lack a power clam, though, and am stuck in ink in hostile territory. I do well to keep myself unsplatted, and to keep the basket relatively clear, as a squidmate comes behind to open the scoring.
We manage only the one clam, and the purple team push right back. The Inkbrush gets past us and scores, which feels inevitable, but our defence otherwise holds. I manage an extra splat as our basket closes and the purple team retreat, only to be hit unseen by my target. So it goes. I am cautious on my return, looking for where the purple team is, where they are moving. They are edging in to our turf, looking for weakness. I refuse to show any, instead finding an opportunity to move in to their space, and splatting one, two, and missing a third but assisting a squidmate. I run from the fourth, turning around not quite realising how inky I am, and getting splatted by an Ink Storm.
I lunge forwards on my return this time, forging a path to the purple team. My dash almost catches them unawares, bagging me another splat. The Flingza Roller flees to the side, my sloshing following them until its clear someone else is in the fray. I turn and slosh them, for a mutual splatting that feels a fair result. My squidmates complete the Wipeout, and it looks like we can strike, except the our barrier breaks a moment later. The power clam must have been thrown just as the inkling was splatted. But the Wipeout does mean our basket is safe. Our opportunity is merely delayed slightly.
I grab clams, anticipating my squidmates attack. Sure enough, they break the barrier as I get close, and manage to add the few Im carrying to the basket as our Splat Charger, my other surviving squidmate, completes another Wipeout. I have no more clams, so I launch an Inkjet to look threatening. I know I am not threatening in the air, but the purple team dont know that yet. I get a splat, on landing, which seems lucky, and am splatted shortly after. My squidmates have keep the clams hitting the basket, however, and our lead seems comfortable now. Not even our own Wipeout seems like a problem.
I return defensively, but still get myself in to trouble, seeing two power clams waiting to be scored as I am splatted. My squidmates again hold off the assault, and I am soon back to assist. Time is running out too, so this is our last defence, and needs to hold. I use Toxic Mist, hide on walls, and drop down to help splat the Nautilus. The Flingza Roller is next, as Special weapons are deployed. The Flingza Roller tries to add to the barrage with their Tenta Missiles, sadly for them making them a sitting duck. A junk backwards and I find the Inkbrush trying to run straight through our lines. Im in the right place to stop them.
That feels like it. I wonder if it is. There is one more, though, the N-ZAP, and they are to the side. I dont splat them in time, as they grab a power clam and break our barrier. And as the purple team super-jump back, efficient and quick, I run in to a Suction Bomb. More clams hit our basket, and I can do nothing but watch. Luckily, my squidmates can do more, and splat the purple team away, just about keeping our lead safe. But keeping it safe. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Overcoming the pain in Clam Blitz [11-7, Range Blaster]
I see the L-3 Nozzlenose using the platform as cover, and Im having none of it. I move in, use my ranged blasts to splat, and withdraw. I would have got away with it too, if it werent for that pesky Painbrush. My squidmates are doing better, one making a power clam and breaking the barrier with it. I surge forwards, Tenta Missiles on me, to try to contribute, only to be splatted by the same Tenta Missiles as I pause to blast. Ah, fired by the Painbrush. Who then goes on to break our barrier whilst Im splatted. I dont get on with brushes.
My squidmates defend well, and I probably do something at the same time, and our basket closes. I push forwards to find the Painbrush not looking my way. That doesnt mean much with a brush, but I keep my range and splat them, which feels really good, let me tell you, but I cant quite catch up with the N-ZAP 89 immediately. I get them on a third pass, which is good. I scoot around, grab some clams, and lay a Suction Bomb that catches an unsuspecting inkling. A squidmate with a power clam is splatted too, though. I ignore that, as I am dragging clams, to make my own power clam as I surge towards the basket.
Coming under fire, I throw the power clam a little early, missing the basket. Im probably going to get splatted, but somehow, even taking time to throw a Wave Breaker, Im not. One lucky blast and the two inklings tripping over themselves to splat me are instead splatted, and I get a second chance with the power clam. Nice! Its good timing, as a squidmate with another power clam comes and scores that too, with me throwing in a little fella, and a Painbrush of our own adding a chunk more. I celebrate by splatting the orange Painbrush and running away. Or tactically retreating to find more clams, two of which I score.
The orange basket closes with our lead now quite large, and half the battle gone. Im happy to bide my time in defence for a bit, which makes a mockery of when I do push forwards, as I dash in to an Ink Vacs inksplosion like a mug. Moments later, the orange team score again. My squidmates defence holds, and I approach from a different angle, finding a hiding L-3 Nozzlenose. I sense an opportunity and dash forwards looking for clams, and keep going forwards despite seeing two orange inklings ahead of me. It probably serves me right to be splatted and dropped through the scissor lift.
It is almost good that I am splatted, with an orange power clam heading to our basket, and I sit back to defend. My squidmates have other ideas and break the orange barrier before they can break ours. Nice idea! The orange inkling waits near our basket as more clams hits theirs, so I leave them to it and try to keep the push going, particularly as our lead doesnt increase, the push only decreasing our buffer. I nearly add another few clams but see more orange inklings heading to our basket, and with me being the only squidmate standing. I decide to splat them instead.
Getting the splats seemed like a good idea but moments after the orange barrier being back up, the loitering orange inkling scores their power clam. Oh well. At least its just them, and my squidmates splat them soon enough, and the fourth inkling I keep busy in the middle of the stage. Our lead remains healthy. And with me and the Big Swig Roller calling it a no-score draw, and my accidentally creating a power clam, I try to score in retaliation. It doesnt quite go to plan, though. A squidmate recovers my thrown power clam but is splatted before they can score, and a second squidmate with their own power clam is splatted near behind. Why do I super-jump to them? Because sometimes I am just that optimistic. And I forget the other team has a Painbrush. But its all good. With less than thirty seconds to go, we just need a bit of defence against a panicking team, and a squidmate surging through a broken line to score right at the end of the battle, to secure our victory. ![Splatoon 3: A focus on defence in Clam Blitz [14-7, Tri-slosher]
No ones sneaking up the wall, so lets face the Flingza Roller head-on! Oh, its a Dynamo Roller. And running in to a Flingza Roller would have been a bad idea anyway. Never mind, onwards! Or maybe not so much onwards as sitting back in defence, inking walls, watching for pinklings coming my way, as a couple of squidmates are down. I get the Inkbrushs attention, who then completely evades me to score, and the best I can do is tidy up a bit, even as more clams hit the basket. At least I stem the flow a little.
I try sneaking around the side, forgetting that it isnt really possible to sneak around the side. The Inkbrush tracks me, but thankfully I make the inevitable splatting mutual. I am cautious again on my return, looking for potential pinklings, and only moving forwards when it looks relatively safe. Then I pounce, catching a pinkling coming up a wall, but only to be splatted myself by some covering ink. I am yet to build up any kind of momentum, and this wont improve as the pinklings start another attack, on two fronts.
I try to stop one or other, my Toxic Mist maybe working, maybe not working so well when thrown in to a wall in front of me and draining my tank. And the pinklings score, when the Inkbrush gets close enough to the basket while I stray just too far backwards. But Toxic Mist does help out, when its just the Rapid Blaster left. I chase them to a wall, they drop down as it isnt fully inked, and I splat them and the super-jumping Aerospray they land on. Its a decent result, but were still losing.
I push forwards, crossing paths with a squidmate, and hoping to catch a pursuer. I think I do, the Rapid Blaster appearing right in front of me, but sadly the Inkbrush is also behind me. On my map, I see an attempt to score not go quite right, followed by a super-jumping squidmate making it go right. Nice! I cant get anywhere close to add to our score, and the basket closes without any more clams going in, as I flail a little in the central turf. I tidy up a bit, not seeing any pinklings, and follow a friendly Trizooka blast to see two splat puddles.
With nothing more for me to do, I drop back to pick up a drink, before zipping forwards to splat the Dynamo Roller. Im still not fast enough, though, and am splatted myself. I super-jump back to safe ground, while squidmates make a power clam and score again, but I cant find any clams to add to the basket. Instead, I push close, looking for splats, and finding two. One of them is my own, but maybe it takes a little pressure off the basket, and a squidmate returns to get the important clams in to the basket to give us a late lead.
A lead in Clam Blitz is a precious thing, and with an Inkbrush on the pink team I am only too aware how quickly the tide can turn. As such, I take an entirely defensive role on my return, knowing my Toxic Mist can slow the Inkbrush down enough to prevent opportunistic scores. I watch the power clams move around, but also keep an eye out for a potential Inkbrush dragging little clams behind them. A B-bomb could signal a move on our basket, and sure enough the Dynamo Roller comes our way, diving across the divide to get a sneaky score. Thankfully, Im waiting for them, and my Toxic Mist catches the Rapid Blaster following behind.
But with a Killer Wail coming in, and maybe another B-bomb soon, staying near the basket may not be the best option. Instead. I head up the wall with the hope of surprising the pinklings from behind. And, sure enough, as they plot another attack, and a B-bomb flies towards the basket, I pop up behind them, bag a double splat, and my squidmates hit the power clam on the ramp. Thats a Wipeout, and, as we have entered overtime, must be the victory. I would think thats worth a little celebratory dance. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Classic end to Salmon Run [32-41-28, 26/531]
Ink the walls! Its pretty important, particularly when its your main route back to the basket. I guess there are ink rails, but still, its the principle. The wave starts with nice coordination on the Flyfish, although Im a little reluctant to let the eggs disappear back to the water. At least that puts me in the right place for the Fish Finger, and to revive a squidmate. I get booped and bumped a bit, and focus on eggs again, until a Flyfish appears, and thats my target. I do well to splat the first bin and keep the Scrapper moving while I recover ink for a second Splat Bomb, only to throw it well wide. Bit of a waste, that. Back to the basket for another Fish Finger, then on to the Stinger to splat the distant threat, whose eggs I ignore, as I do a Scrappers, but as time runs down Im scrabbling to find some. They were around, just not close enough.
On to the second wave, where the tide comes in, giving me less room to dodge-roll with the Tetra Dualies. The first bosses are splatted quickly, and my first dodge-roll doesnt put me in the drink. I grab some eggs and move on when I see the Stinger. I pause as a Steel Eel mostly goes by, then splat the Stinger efficiently, dodge-rolling away from trouble, only for the Scrapper to catch up with me. I head back up to the basket when revived, and do a good job of dodge-rolling to hit the Steel Eel without dropping off the ledge, but Scrappers really want to bump me today. Im revived again, and eggs start appearing around the basket, which is nice, but I make a bit of a mistake when trying to grab some from the top of a Fish Finger. I dont jump, but dodge-roll. I remember now. On to the third wave!
Its low tide. There are bosses on their way. Somewhere. A Steel Eel is splatted, which means eggs, so I go to find them, only to bump in to a Scrapper. I didnt even see any eggs. And there are ink rails. Never mind, Im revived and we have eggs to deliver, then its back to splatting. Things get a bit busy, not helped by a Big Shot appearing, so I pull out an Inkjet. I revive a squidmate and take a potshot at the Fish Finger, which splats quite a few of the little fellows. I try again, and miss, and again, and miss, and I really am not using the Inkjet well at all. I try again, realising I probably should aim for the Stick, which does seem to work, only to be in the air when everyone else is splatted. I have time to revive a couple of them, which is handy, and land still needing ten eggs to meet quota. We start cramming them in, and just about manage to get in enough to clear the wave, and the Run, but the panic takes its toll. One by one were all splatted, and its lucky that I just about make it to the end of the Run first. Everyone celebrating in their rubber rings is a classic end to Salmon Run. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: A brief introduction to Lemuria Hub in Tower Control [7(2)-1, Custom Hydra Splatling]
The Custom Hydra Splatling is here! Lets see how it is with some Tower Control. On what stage now? Oh, right, thats new too. I really should recon these things first. Never mind, I can wing it. Theres the Tower, theres a weird moving platform, this is fine.
I catch a roller trying to pin a squidmate, push back the Splatterscope, and get pushed in to the Tower. Okay, Ill ride it. I hit the Splatterscope and push forwards, throwing out a Splatterscreen, but the action is behind me, a teal inkling on the Tower. Not for long, and a squidmate brings the Tower back to me.
I hop off again as a Wave Breaker lands. That lets me catch the Carbon Roller coming back towards me, doing a very me thing of rushing headlong towards a Hydra Splatling. It gets the same result too. The Splatterscope moves in an unfortunate direction too, and after the pair of splats I catch up with the Tower, now at the second checkpoint.
Were safely in a Bubble, then safely behind an off-kilter Splatterscreen. Its for the best, as you cant see anything through that thing. Im not sure it is that useful if you actually have range. Never mind, the Splatterscope gets some height to avoid it, which lets me see and splat them, but the rest of my charge is wasted, and a Decavitator jumps on to the Tower before I get much charge back. They splat me, but its not enough to stop our momentum, my squidmates riding the Tower to the goal seconds later. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Struggling to get to the end in All-Grizzco Salmon Run [50-32-46, 36/824]
Its late, Im tired, and at the end of a rather long session. Thats all to say Im not at my best. But my squidmates do great, and help to get me through one more run to get me up to VP 999 at Spawning Grounds, giving me a shiny new badge. Woomy!
Shout out to rando Eddie, who stayed with me in the solo queue even with some equally dubious previous performances of mine. Thanks, Eddie! And sorry that I didnt stick around for the next Triumvirate appearance. I got so excited at completing my goal that I forgot that was something that happened. ![Splatoon 3: One-way traffic in Tower Control [14(6)-2, Range Blaster]
Two Range Blasters on our team. How can we not win? I immediately see the tell-tale trail of an inkling trying to flank us and blast over the ledge, not only deterring them but sending them in to the path of our Splat Roller. The other teal inklings are scattered around, but all in our sights, and within sends we have a Wipeout. Time to ride the Tower!
Someone throws Suction Bombs our way. I hop off the Tower each time, but our E-litre 4K is bolder and trusts in the column. It fails them after a while, but our skirmishing squidmates chase down our opponents, securing another Wipeout, and I help keep the Tower moving. The Towers path gets treacherous as we round the corner, and ink flies from every direction. We suffer splats, a Bubble not quite protecting us as much as it could, but I survive, running away and leaving a Suction Bomb in my wake.
Im chased by the Splattershot, and I turn to face them, getting a lucky close-ranged shot. The Tower is moving backwards, but general blasting its way splats another inkling. And rather than focus on the super-jumper, I aim for ink flying in, and get another lucky direct hit. My squidmates splat the super-jumper, and we have another Wipeout. We get the Tower moving again, but only around the corner, where things get busy once more. I manage to dodge nicely and turn things around with a decent splat, only to find the other teal inklings had gone ahead, and now return to the Tower Im on. I dont last long.
The teal team turn the Tower around and get a score on the board. But they are already feeling a little desperate, as they want to ride the Tower even when its not safe. I splat one off the Tower only for another to immediately take their place, which is fairly easy pickings for a blaster. The others are caught for another Wipeout, and we ride the Tower once more. This time, I leave our E-litre 4K to take care of the Tower and go skirmishing myself. That doesnt work out so well, and I have to hop on soon after, only to leap off to try to splat the Hero Shot Replica. That doesnt go so well, but my squidmates have circumstances under control, bagging another Wipeout and keeping the Tower moving.
I super-jump back, and this time the corner poses less problems. I dont think I can contribute my blasting as helping, not with a Bubble on the Tower and a Kraken running wild. But we get around the corner, secure another Wipeout, and look clear to the goal. I join my squidmates on the Tower, then chicken out and jump off, not quite realising how close we were to the goal. I think it counts as my getting there, at least according to my medals. Woomy! Splatoon 3: One-way traffic in Tower Control [14(6)-2, Range Blaster]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Y0UoamxXe_I/mqdefault.jpg)
![Splatoon 3: High-tide special waves bring in the eggs in Salmon Run [57-69-45-xf, 48/1742]
A high-tide Mothership is a decent first wave. Few Chinooks will land too distant from us, and so we should get less wandering Chinooks. But it also gives us loads of Chinooks to shoot and eggs to deliver. While we are unlikely to fail the wave, or miss quota, it can get a bit hectic to keep on top of things. On the plus side, whichever squidmates shoot the Mothership do a great job, sending it packing before it clamps on to the basket. I dont even notice! It all adds up to a bumper wave for eggs. Onwards!
Another special wave, still at high tide, and its Hunt the Goldie time! Also a great choice for high tide, as the Goldie has few choices where to hide, and little option where to wander. With some decent coordination, and keeping the gushers open, Goldie has little option but to keep waddling past the basket and getting splatted for eggs. Sure, I get splatted near the end, but with almost seventy eggs in the basket I think we did well.
Finally, the tide goes out, even if the skies stay dark. This time, its fog. The least predictable of the special waves, but one that could still reap rewards, if we let stuffed Goldies get to the basket. All is going well, probably because a couple of squidmates are splatting distant bosses, until a Lid boops me over a grate while I am squidding. So it goes. At least it takes some Stinger pressure off the others. I am revived after a squidmate prioritises a Goldie, which I can understand, and then Specials are thrown when the basket gets busy. That gives us lots of eggs to dunk, which I could help with if I didnt jump in to some Flyfish missiles. But Im revived, and we clear the wave with another decent total.
If only that were the end of the Run, but here comes the Triumvirate. Ive got the Grizzco bucket for the extra wave, which is fun but Id rather have hade it earlier. I make the best of it, as I try to avoid Joe being dragged my way by a squidmate, and manage to hit Boros nicely. Then its back to Joe, who targets me again, and just when I get trapped between a Snatcher and a tiny railing. I get bitten for my troubles. I am revived, and dodge this way and that, trying to find space, eggs, and time to slosh my bucket, which is harder than it seems. I get detached from the squad just trying to stay unsplatted, and although I manage that, time runs out. I think we did okay, at least, as Zuna was splatted. And look at our egg count! Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: A little flanking can go a long way in Tower Control ]23(6)-7, Range Blaster]
Im totally ready to battle, dont worry about where Im looking. My first splat shows how ready I am, using the sponge to get a nice angle on the Tower. Weve almost won! Okay, I walk in to the Wellstrings shot, but never mind. Theyre the only one up, so Im riding the Tower. Im off again, lured by the Wellstring and a super-jump marker, and how badly do I fluff my shots. At least the Nautilus drop-rolls in to my blaster. We start to make progress as I run out of ink, and the Clash Blaster appears. Thats not much fun, but a squidmate takes the hit, and I go on. I throw a Wave Breaker, hop back on the Tower, and splat the Wellstring nicely.
Our E-litre 4K has another super-jumper covered, and we ride on to the lead, as I hop off again to stop the Flingza Roller. I push forwards and use my Blaster well, splatting the Nautilus and Clash Blaster without seeing them, and a squidmates Killer Wail completes the Wipeout. We have a short pause, which is nice, then its back to splatting. I only glance the Nautilus this time, and although I splat the Clash Blaster, their quick firing splats me back. Our presence on the Tower remains a little longer, extending our lead, but we are stopped shot of passing the final checkpoint. We did good!
Flush with confidence, I dash straight in to trouble and get splatted for it, which is what generally happens. I try something different next. With time to spare, I can afford to take a bit of it and head the long way to the Tower. The orange team dont notice, and I splat two off the Tower, and a third super-jumping in, as my squidmates splat their vanguard. Thatll do. We start to make progress again, splatting away the first return of the orange team, but my courageous push forward this time just lands me in trouble. Our push continues, stalls, and I sensibly run away from the Flingza Roller on the Tower rather than trust my aim over their rolling. I think Ive pushed them back, and I did, but they were just getting a run-up for a well-aimed flick.
I get caught by the Clash Blaster when I return, allowing the orange-controlled Tower to head around the corner again. I could try hitting the flank again, but I think it would be too obvious. No, Ill try. And this time, I get the Wipeout myself, and with only three shots. Nice! We push again, with some peaceful riding to start with, followed by some orange pressure. I linger back, after my previous lunge went badly, but feel I am leaving myself out of the action. I go towards the Tower, and take over from a splatted squidmate, where I too am promptly splatted. It used up some time, at least, and the orange team have a long way to go in thirty seconds.
My squidmates keep the Tower moving forwards for a little longer, even if I dont help with a super-jump that lands me too close to the Clash Blaster for comfort. And the orange team turn the Tower around, with mere seconds remaining. Its time to try the flank again. This time, the Tower isnt so advanced, and it only needs to be cleared and claimed. So thats what I help with, dashing forwards to hop on to the Tower as overtime starts, securing the victory. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Crammin in the eggs in Salmon Run [36-51-58, 33/738]
The good squad I stumbled in to are sticking together, which is nice. I ink the walls for them, because thats a nice thing to do, then wait for something to do. A Stinger seems like a good start, as does a second, although I end up splatting little guys and a chunk Cohock as the second and third Stingers are splatted by others. Its a team effort, though, and to show that we tag-team some eggs back to the basket, before I make a daring leap that would have been less daring had more of the turf been inked. I then help with a Maws, a Flyfish, and revive a squidmate before I run out of ink. More splattings around the basket are good for eggs, but two distant Stingers take offence to me, and I get caught in crossfire with sticky feet. To stop that happening again, I head down to splat the Stingers, disrupting our egg supply chain a little, but hopefully to positive effect.
Fog rolls in for the second wave. That can lead to lots of eggs, as long as the salmonids can be kept under control. Scrappers are easy enough, and a Lid poses no problem, but its a bit of a shame that a stuffed Goldie is splatted a touch early. I deliver a few of the eggs anyway, and a second Goldie is lured closer, while I deal with a Flyfish. Stingers cause problems again, not least from requiring a couple of Goldie splats far from the basket in the name of self-preservation. Despite all that, we still get a healthy tally of eggs for the wave.
On to the third wave, and low tide. I have the Snipewriter, which could benefit from the improved sight-lines, not that I make much of it for a while, and even burst out a B-bomb to hit a Flyfish, saving time. I kinda run out of ink without realising when splatting a Maws, leaving me without my five charges, but ignore that. Im back up and running soon enough, even if Im mostly swapping between firing a couple of shots and get Maws to chow down on another Splat Bomb. As time ticks down on the Run, I let loose my second B-bomb if only to clear the turf around a mass of eggs. It does the trick, and we stuff the basket in the final few seconds, collecting more eggs than the previous wave, for a pretty decent total. Im enjoying this squad. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Rear Wellstring support in Tower Control [21(12)-3, Custom Wellstring V]
My initial inking doesnt do much in retrospect, much like my initial aiming. I get splatted, and the blue team get past the first checkpoint. Were then hassled by a Blaster sitting below a ledge, blasting. How dare they. I hit their Splashdown, but not hard enough, and then I cant drop my shots on them, so I change my angle. I bag a couple of splats, which helps turn the Tower around, but that Blaster remains. I choose to avoid them, at least until I can get a better angle again, and then I help out our Splat Charger.
We manage to clear our lines, but we have a long road ahead of us. The blue team got to the third checkpoint, and made it look pretty easy. Im not sure were going to turn the battle around. But I get on the Tower and line my shots up nicely, tackling the returning blue team, and with some excellent squidmate support, we sail through the first checkpoint to the second. My squidmates keep the pressure on, and I keep the distance shots coming, and somehow we steal the lead back on our first push. Nice!
I jump off the Tower after the third checkpoint, as I lack ink, and then dont get back on because of the pressure the blue team are amassing. My squidmates are keen to keep the push going, but I find myself slowly heading backwards for the most part. I try to remain positive, but before long I find myself chased back behind our lines by a Blaster. A squidmate helps me out, which is good, but the Tower has reset.
The blue team pop a couple of Bubblers and get the Tower moving, keen to regain the lead, and they do well to get around the corner. Im pushed back by the Blaster again, but that puts me in a good position to defend the inkoming Tower, and we are able to turn it around again. I ride it forwards, trying to get my inksplosive shots to deter blue inklings from climbing the Tower, but in the end I am blasted off.
I consider a quick return but decide on prudence instead, putting me in a defensive position. It suits me, until a Point Sensor disguises a simultaneous Chicken throw, to which I remain blind right up until it splats me. The blue team are pushing again, and maybe as their last attempt. I try not to panic, knowing we have a good lead, and set myself defensively. I get some good hits, if not actual splats, and its my squidmates who splat the blue team away and reclaim the Tower, securing the victory. Woomy!
