It's late, I'm tired, and at the end of a rather long session. That's all to say I'm not at my best. But my squidmates do great, and help to get me through one more run to get me up to VP 999 at Spawning Grounds, giving me a shiny new badge. Woomy!

Two Range Blasters on our team. How can we not win? I immediately see the tell-tale trail of an inkling trying to flank us and blast over the ledge, not only deterring them but sending them in to the path of our Splat Roller. The other teal inklings are scattered around, but all in our sights, and within sends we have a Wipeout. Time to ride the Tower!
Someone throws Suction Bombs our way. I hop off the Tower each time, but our E-litre 4K is bolder and trusts in the column. It fails them after a while, but our skirmishing squidmates chase down our opponents, securing another Wipeout, and I help keep the Tower moving. The Towers path gets treacherous as we round the corner, and ink flies from every direction. We suffer splats, a Bubble not quite protecting us as much as it could, but I survive, running away and leaving a Suction Bomb in my wake.
Im chased by the Splattershot, and I turn to face them, getting a lucky close-ranged shot. The Tower is moving backwards, but general blasting its way splats another inkling. And rather than focus on the super-jumper, I aim for ink flying in, and get another lucky direct hit. My squidmates splat the super-jumper, and we have another Wipeout. We get the Tower moving again, but only around the corner, where things get busy once more. I manage to dodge nicely and turn things around with a decent splat, only to find the other teal inklings had gone ahead, and now return to the Tower Im on. I dont last long.
The teal team turn the Tower around and get a score on the board. But they are already feeling a little desperate, as they want to ride the Tower even when its not safe. I splat one off the Tower only for another to immediately take their place, which is fairly easy pickings for a blaster. The others are caught for another Wipeout, and we ride the Tower once more. This time, I leave our E-litre 4K to take care of the Tower and go skirmishing myself. That doesnt work out so well, and I have to hop on soon after, only to leap off to try to splat the Hero Shot Replica. That doesnt go so well, but my squidmates have circumstances under control, bagging another Wipeout and keeping the Tower moving.
I super-jump back, and this time the corner poses less problems. I dont think I can contribute my blasting as helping, not with a Bubble on the Tower and a Kraken running wild. But we get around the corner, secure another Wipeout, and look clear to the goal. I join my squidmates on the Tower, then chicken out and jump off, not quite realising how close we were to the goal. I think it counts as my getting there, at least according to my medals. Woomy!")

A high-tide Mothership is a decent first wave. Few Chinooks will land too distant from us, and so we should get less wandering Chinooks. But it also gives us loads of Chinooks to shoot and eggs to deliver. While we are unlikely to fail the wave, or miss quota, it can get a bit hectic to keep on top of things. On the plus side, whichever squidmates shoot the Mothership do a great job, sending it packing before it clamps on to the basket. I dont even notice! It all adds up to a bumper wave for eggs. Onwards!
Another special wave, still at high tide, and its Hunt the Goldie time! Also a great choice for high tide, as the Goldie has few choices where to hide, and little option where to wander. With some decent coordination, and keeping the gushers open, Goldie has little option but to keep waddling past the basket and getting splatted for eggs. Sure, I get splatted near the end, but with almost seventy eggs in the basket I think we did well.
Finally, the tide goes out, even if the skies stay dark. This time, its fog. The least predictable of the special waves, but one that could still reap rewards, if we let stuffed Goldies get to the basket. All is going well, probably because a couple of squidmates are splatting distant bosses, until a Lid boops me over a grate while I am squidding. So it goes. At least it takes some Stinger pressure off the others. I am revived after a squidmate prioritises a Goldie, which I can understand, and then Specials are thrown when the basket gets busy. That gives us lots of eggs to dunk, which I could help with if I didnt jump in to some Flyfish missiles. But Im revived, and we clear the wave with another decent total.
If only that were the end of the Run, but here comes the Triumvirate. Ive got the Grizzco bucket for the extra wave, which is fun but Id rather have hade it earlier. I make the best of it, as I try to avoid Joe being dragged my way by a squidmate, and manage to hit Boros nicely. Then its back to Joe, who targets me again, and just when I get trapped between a Snatcher and a tiny railing. I get bitten for my troubles. I am revived, and dodge this way and that, trying to find space, eggs, and time to slosh my bucket, which is harder than it seems. I get detached from the squad just trying to stay unsplatted, and although I manage that, time runs out. I think we did okay, at least, as Zuna was splatted. And look at our egg count! Woomy!")

Im totally ready to battle, dont worry about where Im looking. My first splat shows how ready I am, using the sponge to get a nice angle on the Tower. Weve almost won! Okay, I walk in to the Wellstrings shot, but never mind. Theyre the only one up, so Im riding the Tower. Im off again, lured by the Wellstring and a super-jump marker, and how badly do I fluff my shots. At least the Nautilus drop-rolls in to my blaster. We start to make progress as I run out of ink, and the Clash Blaster appears. Thats not much fun, but a squidmate takes the hit, and I go on. I throw a Wave Breaker, hop back on the Tower, and splat the Wellstring nicely.
Our E-litre 4K has another super-jumper covered, and we ride on to the lead, as I hop off again to stop the Flingza Roller. I push forwards and use my Blaster well, splatting the Nautilus and Clash Blaster without seeing them, and a squidmates Killer Wail completes the Wipeout. We have a short pause, which is nice, then its back to splatting. I only glance the Nautilus this time, and although I splat the Clash Blaster, their quick firing splats me back. Our presence on the Tower remains a little longer, extending our lead, but we are stopped shot of passing the final checkpoint. We did good!
Flush with confidence, I dash straight in to trouble and get splatted for it, which is what generally happens. I try something different next. With time to spare, I can afford to take a bit of it and head the long way to the Tower. The orange team dont notice, and I splat two off the Tower, and a third super-jumping in, as my squidmates splat their vanguard. Thatll do. We start to make progress again, splatting away the first return of the orange team, but my courageous push forward this time just lands me in trouble. Our push continues, stalls, and I sensibly run away from the Flingza Roller on the Tower rather than trust my aim over their rolling. I think Ive pushed them back, and I did, but they were just getting a run-up for a well-aimed flick.
I get caught by the Clash Blaster when I return, allowing the orange-controlled Tower to head around the corner again. I could try hitting the flank again, but I think it would be too obvious. No, Ill try. And this time, I get the Wipeout myself, and with only three shots. Nice! We push again, with some peaceful riding to start with, followed by some orange pressure. I linger back, after my previous lunge went badly, but feel I am leaving myself out of the action. I go towards the Tower, and take over from a splatted squidmate, where I too am promptly splatted. It used up some time, at least, and the orange team have a long way to go in thirty seconds.
My squidmates keep the Tower moving forwards for a little longer, even if I dont help with a super-jump that lands me too close to the Clash Blaster for comfort. And the orange team turn the Tower around, with mere seconds remaining. Its time to try the flank again. This time, the Tower isnt so advanced, and it only needs to be cleared and claimed. So thats what I help with, dashing forwards to hop on to the Tower as overtime starts, securing the victory. Woomy!")

The good squad I stumbled in to are sticking together, which is nice. I ink the walls for them, because thats a nice thing to do, then wait for something to do. A Stinger seems like a good start, as does a second, although I end up splatting little guys and a chunk Cohock as the second and third Stingers are splatted by others. Its a team effort, though, and to show that we tag-team some eggs back to the basket, before I make a daring leap that would have been less daring had more of the turf been inked. I then help with a Maws, a Flyfish, and revive a squidmate before I run out of ink. More splattings around the basket are good for eggs, but two distant Stingers take offence to me, and I get caught in crossfire with sticky feet. To stop that happening again, I head down to splat the Stingers, disrupting our egg supply chain a little, but hopefully to positive effect.
Fog rolls in for the second wave. That can lead to lots of eggs, as long as the salmonids can be kept under control. Scrappers are easy enough, and a Lid poses no problem, but its a bit of a shame that a stuffed Goldie is splatted a touch early. I deliver a few of the eggs anyway, and a second Goldie is lured closer, while I deal with a Flyfish. Stingers cause problems again, not least from requiring a couple of Goldie splats far from the basket in the name of self-preservation. Despite all that, we still get a healthy tally of eggs for the wave.
On to the third wave, and low tide. I have the Snipewriter, which could benefit from the improved sight-lines, not that I make much of it for a while, and even burst out a B-bomb to hit a Flyfish, saving time. I kinda run out of ink without realising when splatting a Maws, leaving me without my five charges, but ignore that. Im back up and running soon enough, even if Im mostly swapping between firing a couple of shots and get Maws to chow down on another Splat Bomb. As time ticks down on the Run, I let loose my second B-bomb if only to clear the turf around a mass of eggs. It does the trick, and we stuff the basket in the final few seconds, collecting more eggs than the previous wave, for a pretty decent total. Im enjoying this squad. Woomy!")

My initial inking doesnt do much in retrospect, much like my initial aiming. I get splatted, and the blue team get past the first checkpoint. Were then hassled by a Blaster sitting below a ledge, blasting. How dare they. I hit their Splashdown, but not hard enough, and then I cant drop my shots on them, so I change my angle. I bag a couple of splats, which helps turn the Tower around, but that Blaster remains. I choose to avoid them, at least until I can get a better angle again, and then I help out our Splat Charger.
We manage to clear our lines, but we have a long road ahead of us. The blue team got to the third checkpoint, and made it look pretty easy. Im not sure were going to turn the battle around. But I get on the Tower and line my shots up nicely, tackling the returning blue team, and with some excellent squidmate support, we sail through the first checkpoint to the second. My squidmates keep the pressure on, and I keep the distance shots coming, and somehow we steal the lead back on our first push. Nice!
I jump off the Tower after the third checkpoint, as I lack ink, and then dont get back on because of the pressure the blue team are amassing. My squidmates are keen to keep the push going, but I find myself slowly heading backwards for the most part. I try to remain positive, but before long I find myself chased back behind our lines by a Blaster. A squidmate helps me out, which is good, but the Tower has reset.
The blue team pop a couple of Bubblers and get the Tower moving, keen to regain the lead, and they do well to get around the corner. Im pushed back by the Blaster again, but that puts me in a good position to defend the inkoming Tower, and we are able to turn it around again. I ride it forwards, trying to get my inksplosive shots to deter blue inklings from climbing the Tower, but in the end I am blasted off.
I consider a quick return but decide on prudence instead, putting me in a defensive position. It suits me, until a Point Sensor disguises a simultaneous Chicken throw, to which I remain blind right up until it splats me. The blue team are pushing again, and maybe as their last attempt. I try not to panic, knowing we have a good lead, and set myself defensively. I get some good hits, if not actual splats, and its my squidmates who splat the blue team away and reclaim the Tower, securing the victory. Woomy!")

Can I sneak around the back? Generally not, above the lower ranks, but apparently I can here. Nice! I move back towards the Tower and hop on, sloshing around to keep myself safe. I dont hit the Splat Roller directly below me, though. Dunno why. I return to leap at the Tower, hitting the Nautilus with Toxic Mist, then splatting them during a panic Splashdown. I also leap in to their Splashdown, which isnt advisable, but somehow get clear to splat the Aerospray off the Tower. I tidy up a bit, then ride the Tower briefly, hopping off to splat the Blaster nearby, before pushing up to neutralise the pinklings ink rail. If only I had noticed the Curling Bomb going past me.
I return to mostly green turf, allowing me to reach the Tower, turned around by the pinklings. I slosh here and there, getting a splat, but I cant place the Blaster, and they splat me. Another short outing next, as I pop around a corner to see a squidmate splatted by the Nautilus. I jump in to the fray, hoping to take advantage of them thinking theyre clear, only to get properly caught in their Splashdown. At least I still manage to splat them first.
The pinklings are on the Tower, though, and the Blaster is in our turf, as witnessed by the Splashdown right in front of me. I take an alternative route to the Tower, where I stop it quite amateurishly, just by persistent sloshing, dragging the Blaster off. It works, I suppose, and stops the Nautilus from continuing the push, but only for the moment. And running headlong in to their waiting charge is still a lesson in getting splatted I fail to consistently learn. Our lead is safe, though.
I maybe shoo away the Splat Roller as I come back, and tidy up our turf a little, but the Splat Roller is lurking, sending a Curling Bomb forwards. They forget I can slosh over walls. I move up and wait for the Nautilus to foolishly peek their head over the ledge, then push forwards, thinking about heading around the back but deciding to more directly support the Tower. I launch an Inkjet, trying to stay safe but also hoping to be threatening, and do very little with it, as usual, and landing in a spray of pink ink. So it goes. Our lead has extended.
The Splat Roller is trying to get close to us again, and their Curling Bombs and Ninja Squid gets me paranoid. Rapid sloshing cures that, and I move on. I bump in to the Aerospray, and we both go our own ways. I keep moving around, to approach the pinklings from behind. It feels good, when I catch the Aerospray mid-B-bomb, only to miss their landing. I get one splat when moving up on the Tower, but my sloshing misses two others, and I get overwhelmed by the Aerospray I failed to splat. My squidmates are doing better, turning the Tower around and getting splats. I contribute all of one assist to the Wipeout their achieve.
With seconds to go, we push the Tower forwards, and I leap in to pinkling territory, mostly looking to be disruptive. I cant achieve much with my short-ranged bucket, so pull out another Inkjet, and even get a splat with it. The Towers been turned around, though, but it doesnt seem like I problem. I circle behind it, splat the pinkling off, and take over as time runs out. The Blaster tries to shift me, but their shots hit the Towers column and dont burst, leaving me safe. Woomy!")

Having inked some walls, I help keep the salmonid population low. I hear a Big Shot somewhere, but rather than look for it I head back to the basket, as I see eggs being shot from its cannon. A squidmate must have splatted it already. I let a Steel Eel come my way, deliver its eggs, then head out to meet another Big Shot, only to pause for a Flipper and Maws combo, which gives a bundle of eggs. I ignore them to splat a Fish Finger, which naturally leads to a Flyfish, then up another Fish Finger. This is all good, flowing Salmon Running. I deliver some eggs, help with a Lid, and see some Snatchers flying towards the basket with their hands full. We could stop them! Well, not me, as I get splatted, and have the range of an Aerospray. They get away, but never mind, we finish the wave with a healthy tally.
A Stinger meets experience Salmon Runners at the start of the second wave, as does a second. A Drizzler is considerate enough to land next to a couple of us next, but I see the Snatchers taking the early eggs away from us. Never mind, there are bosses in the other direction, and its worth using a Killer Wail to splat them quickly, letting me get back to the basket in time to see an excellent Splashdown combine with Steelhead inksplosions. There are lots of eggs to deliver, but more bosses. I nearly splat a Stinger and leave a Splat Bomb to finish the job, and grabbing a couple of eggs before moving on. I bring a Lid down on a Steelhead, but its splatted before I can ride it up to the Fish Finger. That almost causes problems, with Steelhead bombs and Flyfish missiles, but Im okay, and I splat the Fish Finger and deliver a few last eggs for another decent wave.
A Fish Finger is nice and easy for my Clash Blaster, and another suits me fine. I cant quite manoeuvre to splat the Flyfish, so I run away and look for the Stinger. I find the Stinger and splat it, which nearly puts me in an awkward position. I take the safe route out, turning to use my second Killer Wail on a Flyfish, and spinning to hit a Steelhead too, before bringing down a Lid and leaving a Splat Bomb for a Maws. I manage to avoid more bosses when I hit the ground, and get closer to the basket. I dance with a couple of Scrappers and a Maws, while trying to dodge a Stinger, and despite being quite below quote at the ten-second mark, we cram twenty eggs in to the basket in those last few seconds. Nice!
But its not over, as Joe makes an appearance. It comes for me first, and I just run for a Flyfish. Joe wont get there, but we splat it and take its eggs. I dont see eggs or bosses on the next lunge, so just shoot its red spot normally. I get eggs after that, but I find myself continually out of position and unable to do much. I even miss a Steelhead with my Squiffer, which is embarrassing, so I reposition and reset. That helps, and Joe is being dragged to more open beach, and with eggs lying everywhere we can get some good shots in. I just miss grabbing another egg for a shot as Joe dives back underground, but is fate is sealed, and we splat it for a decent reward of three silver scales. Woomy!")

Im trying to work out if the ground route is quicker than the ink rail, and I dont seem to be alone. I think its about equal, in that I can get to the Rainmaker just in time to be splatted by its inksplosion. Science! I try to stay out of trouble for a little while after that, and not lunge to grab the Rainmaker in front of the E-litre 4K. Even so, they splat me when aiming for someone else, which is a good indicator of how this battle may go.
I hit the side next, either as a precaution or just to stay out of the way of pretty much everything. Im not sure the E-litre 4K has seen me, at least not yet, so I pounce and scare them. Almost as much as Im scared by the sudden appearance of the Painbrush. I think about going down the side, but I see the Decavitator use the ink rail, so I retreat. That puts me next to the exposed Rainmaker, so I grab that and try to avoid the charger still, but again its the Decavitator that I needed to be aware of. At least we have a score on the board.
We have made little progress. I think the long-range cover from the E-litre 4K isnt helping, so I make it my mission to impede them, either by splatting or just making them look over their shoulder. A bit of earlier inking helps as I head down the flank, and I successfully get behind the E-litre 4K for a surprise splat. I cant quite slosh the Octobrush afters, but Ive hopefully given my squidmates room to move, and worries the charger a little. Indeed, the Rainmaker starts to make progress, which is good.
I rejoin the fun, but jink away from it, heading around the back, where I am ready to surprise a yellow inkling coming my way! They promptly disappear, which is odd, but I move on, where I am no surprise at all to the E-litre 4K. I dont think Ive shaken their confidence enough. I head back down the side, wondering where to go. Towards the Rainmaker, from behind, and hopefully splatting the inklings on our blocks. Some ink hitting my back makes me think I have limited time, and I do. I get a splat, but for not much gain. Still, my squidmates build on that, and complete a Wipeout, with two of us standing.
We have an opportunity to move the Rainmaker, but its a bit of a dash, right in to yellow ink. The Rainmaker is dropped, but thanks to some forward pressure the opportunity remains with us. I see that and burst the Rainmaker free, heading down the secondary route, and hitting the checkpoint. Nice! This time I catch the inkling come my way, and as we burst the Rainmaker free on the checkpoint, rather than grab it I decide to jump in to an Inkjet. Im really not very good with it, but the yellow team doesnt know that, and the E-litre 4K, rather than try to easily pick me off, runs and hides. This is air superiority!
I shoot a bit, the E-litre 4K panics and super-jumps away, and our squidmate with the Rainmaker steals the lead and heads for the podium. I try to ink it with my last Inkjet blast and, whether it hits or not, the Rainmaker is dunked. What a great turnaround. Woomy!")

Ive moved away from inking and more towards splatting in the Grand Splatfest, pulling out my Range Blaster. On the one hand, Im more comfortable with the weapon, I get more splats, and I feel much more competitive with it. On the other hand, I dont ink as much turf.
This was definitely a better battle for me, though. The missed shots on the Splatana waddling with their Tenta Missiles is embarrassing, and the Tri-slosher had everyones number, putting in the best stats. But I had fun, and felt like I was contributing.")

Im totally ready! Maybe it doesnt bode well that I am the first down to low tide, but moving on, and a Big Shot strolls up to be first, closely followed by a Steel Eel. That should be straightforward, but its not helped by getting surrounded by spoony Smallfry. I fire a couple of eggs, grab another, and splat a Fish Finger on my way back to the basket, where the fired eggs wait. I dunk a few, throw another right over the basket. Never mind, theres a Maws to splat, squidmate to be revived, and a Flipper to drop gunk on me. I help with a Scrapper and finish off a Fish Finger, before stopping a Snatcher coming overheard to get two more eggs in the basket. That felt like a good wave. On to the next!
The tide comes in, so its time to ink the walls. Not enough inklings do this still! Okay, its not as needed for Mudmouths, but we still could use the escape routes. And maybe our fourth squidmate to be present. I hope they come back! In the meantime, I use my Dualie Squelchers to deal with the Smallfry spewing from a Mudmouth as a squidmate throws Splat Bombs, before heading back near the basket to throw my own Splat Bombs. That leaves a bunch of eggs which we start throwing in to the basket, and we hit quota, which is good, and keep our absent squidmate, which is better.
The tide comes in further for the final wave, and I have the Heavy Edit Splatling for some foggy fishing. A Lid feels my inky fury first, and a Stinger would next if a squidmate didnt get there first. I probably could have just shot from the basket, which I do for the next Stinger. I wait near the basket as a few Goldies slowly wander their way around, hoping we can lure them up here, which is seems like we can. We need to stay up here ourselves, though, which I only just do when a Steel Eel boops me. As more bosses take the sweet time coming, I clear some Cohocks, before being mildly disappointed that a stuffed Goldie wasnt let closer to the basket. Never mind, maybe we wont even clear the wave, as things start to get a bit too busy around the basket. Luckily, Special weapons get thrown around, reviving everyone and clearing turf, and we clear the wave and the Run.
We almost clear the Run. Here comes Joe! At high tide too, which makes having Dapple Dualies less of a problem. Theres not much we can do to start with, so we just shoot. Bosses start appearing, but I dont know how to get near to them, so I keep shooting, until an egg lands at my feet, and then Im splatted by a Flyfish. Im revived soon enough, and I try to get more eggs, but I dont have the range of the Dapple Dualies tuned in, and then get buffeted around. My squidmates are doing better, which is good, but I would like to help. Luckily, I get my opportunity, and Joe pops up where there are lots of eggs, and I start to contribute a little. My squidmates are doing a lot too, and Joe barely pops up one more time before hes roundly splatted. Woomy!")

Bloblobbing lets me ink walls at the start, and its good to see my squidmates are contributing. On to the bosses, and they are in the corner for now, where were unlikely to retrieve many eggs. I just leave them, but maybe not those on the Fish Finger, which are safe to gather and easily thrown. I bounce blobs to splat a Scrapper at the basket, and a Steel Eel adds to nearby eggs. I could help with the second Scrapper, but the Bloblobber is just the weapon to splat the new Stinger, and at a distance. I help with a Steelhead, stop a Maws, and kinda get in the way of a squidmate splatting a Fish Finger, but we sort ourselves out. We get quota with time to spare, and keep splatting and dunking to the end of the wave, bagging ourselves a decent tally.
The second wave grants me the new Brolly, which is fine I suppose, and we get Mudmouths. The Brolly actually could help here, with suppressing the Smallfry. I just need to find some. Its mostly Cohocks, which seems unusual, but we get plenty of eggs out of it, if too far from the basket. The Mudmouth next to the basket spews Smallfry, so I put my Brolly to work, then its back to Cohocks. I mess up the next Smallfry horde, but we get through it, and we spend the last few seconds delivering eggs to the basket.
Low tide for the final wave, and a classic Splattershot for me. I think Ill waste it and clamber in to a cannon, for a Cohock rush. Im happy with my cannoneering, for the most part, although I let a Flyfish stick around a bit too long when I get slightly flustered when chased by a Steel Eel. Then again, we arent racking up the eggs, even deep in to the wave, so hopping out and collecting some seems like a good idea. We really dont need three inklings in cannons. I can also shoot a Drizzler missile away to stop some of the rain. But the squad realises we need eggs, and everyone contributes as time ticks down, getting us through the Run without any difficulty. And no one got splatted! Good job, everyone. Woomy!")
