Hey, a squidmate is inking a wall over there! I think we're gonna get along. The early bosses are straightforward enough, and I'm enjoying the power of the Heavy Edit Splatling. Its range helps out too when a Stinger appears, and although I could probably splat the Big Shot when it arrives, a squidmate is heading out there, so I stick with a Fish Finger. Or maybe they need help. I revive them and run away, not being able to do much against a moving Flyfish, and instead look to splat another Flipper. I see the Maws in time, but stay for the splat, and get a big caught up. That could eat in to our egg count a little. I'm revived and get back to splatting and egg dunking, and my squidmates are busy all over the place. Time for some last few eggs, and with a decent total we're going in to the second wave.
The tide comes in, which is generally good for high egg counts. But I am given Glooga Dualies, which has the opposite effect. A Steelhead is an easy start, as is a Fish Finger with clear turf. I doubt I'll be dodge-rolling as effectively when things get busier. I keep it going for a little longer, and find space to keep the rolls coming, and even somehow manage to dodge between two Cohocks looking to pan me. More and more rolls, like I am a pro with the Gloogas, when I struggle with them normally. But I pull out a Dolphin to save time against a Steelhead and take some pressure off, which leaves us with much simpler Scrappers to deal with, near the basket, for a good haul of last-second eggs. There are plenty more left on the turf, or in the arms of Snatchers, but we do well, considering.
The third wave has the tide go out, giving us more walls to ink. And Mr Grizz, having seen my performance in the previous wave, gives me more Dualies, these the basic Splat variety. Okay, sure. And two of my squidmates too. Sorry, guys, I guess I just looked good out there! But getting Scrappers by the basket is nice too, not that I think Grizz has much say in that, I guess. I dash off to splat a Stinger, sensibly not sticking around to grab any eggs in the middle of mayhem, but before I know it another has appeared, and this time there are more salmonids around it. I neither complete the splat, nor get away. This is harming our egg count when a good total looked possible. I'm revived quickly, which is excellent, and I throw some eggs forwards and get back to the basket to dunk what I can. We do well in the dying seconds, and good enough for a new record, if not for a gold trophy. Next time. Woomy!

![Splatoon 3: The last half is the shortest in Rainmaker [14(4)-6, Carbon Roller Deco]
Its fun that the Wellstring kinda forgets about me down there, and doesnt see my Burst Bomb inking the wall. Almost as fun as messing up the ambush, but at least I dont pursue the splat until Im splatted, and head back to do something about the Rainmaker. I still dont escape my splatting, but never mind. Argh, whats happening! Im stuck, and going left when I dont want to! I shake out some cobwebs and seem to recover. Lets hope so. Thankfully, my squidmates have been fine without me, and I return to use my Trizooka to burst the Rainmaker free. I have one shot left after that, and send it flying over the ledge, to hit a luckless inkling on the other side.
I head over the gap and almost ambush an inkling from the flank, but I dont mind a squidmate beating me to it. The Rainmaker is dropped, but were in a good position to recover it and hit the first checkpoint, before I try to stop the Bloblobber from lobbing blobs. Thats a difficult proposition, much like running at a .52 Gal and not getting splatted. I super-jump back and run away, almost in to a Rainmaker blast, and push forwards again, trying another ambush on the Wellstring from the wall. This one goes better, but I would do well to at some point remember not to attack them in front of the pointy part of their weapon.
The yellow team bring the Rainmaker our way, not reaching our checkpoint, not even on the second attempt. With the Rainmaker shield under yellowy pressure, I leap the gap in to unknown turf, quite recklessly, and somehow do okay, probably because theres only one yellow inkling up, and they run in to my path. I tidy up our walls, then almost pick up the Rainmaker again, and then wonder which way to go. I bide my time instead, and use patches of ink to this time expertly ambush the Wellstring. I dont have much time to bask in my success, though.
Im not sure whats happening, but I trust my squidmates to know, so I head the other way to them to be the wildcard. It seems to pay off, as I catch the .52 Gal trying to flank us, stopping them on the wall, before backtracking to get away from the Wellstring. Our E-litre 4K is under pressure from an Inkjet too distant to hit them, so I just wait for the Rainmaker to burst and try to ambush it. I get close, but I also dont get splatted. I ink some turf instead, and use my Trizooka not to its potential. It looked scary, at least.
I push forwards again, just as the Rainmaker is dropped, so turn back, where the .52 Gal shows me what it means to be resilient. I dont have that, so just get splatted easily. So it goes. I return along the other flank next, and backtrack to have the Bloblobber fall in front of me. I think our E-litre 4K appreciated that. We have the Rainmaker too, so forwards we go, and up the ledge I go, where I get another solid splat on the Wellstring, this time with time to enjoy it. I drop down to accidentally splat the Undercover Brolly, and I take a moment to ink the way to the podium, throwing a Burst Bomb to ink the podium too. Then I just have to distract the Bloblobber, splatting them works, and our squidmate can dash for the dunk. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Striking gold with Joe in Salmon Run [43-48-47-xs, 55/1023]
I wake up, I ink the walls. This should be a lesson to any profreshional Salmon Runner. And although running away from trouble without any eggs isnt great, I dont get splatted and the eggs are thrown by squidmates. A lone Scrapper is easier to deal with, but a Drizzler gets a lucky escape when its missile is deflected elsewhere first. No matter, I get back to inking walls, like a pro. I am disappointed that our Dread Wringer makes the same mistake on the next Drizzler missile, though, but at least I beat them to the next, and both Drizzlers are splatted. Egg collecting next, with some simple bosses for texture, but Flyfish are getting in the way. I splat one bin, leaving it at that this late in the wave, and we finish as a squad with a Scrapper at the basket.
Low tide next, if I can get there with such a slow weapon as the .96 Gal. I kinda kid, but it is a bit slow. Early Flippers are easy, throwing eggs is difficult, and squid-surging away from a Maws doesnt work when you go in the wrong direction. Never mind, were practically at quota before half the wave is done, and Im revived by a thoughtful squidmate. Back to the basket, where a Maws is dragged, other bosses wait, and a Scrapper doesnt quite squish me against the basket. I do, however, squid backwards in to an oil drum, where I cant escape a Steelhead bomb. Im revived, then get stuck trying to splat a Scrapper with the attention of both a Flipper and Stinger, and I drag a squidmate in to my woes. Its all good, an Inkjet revives us, and we cram some last-second eggs in to the basket for a decent tally.
The tide comes back in for the final wave, and I have a Slosher. I watch my squidmates splat the Flyfish and save my ink, which comes in handy for the Maws, and I just about orientate myself quickly enough to help with a second Flyfish. A Stinger is trouble but my Slosher wont do much, so I pull out an Inkstrike and look for more targets. It seems to do the trick. Its up a Fish Finger next, where I sit a bit lamely out of ink, which I realise and leap back in to action. A squidmate goes for the newly appeared Big Shot, so I let them go and collect more eggs, helping them by stopping a Steel Eel short. Theres just time for a last flurry of egg dunking, and then its back to the chopper
Not yet! Here comes Joe! And Joe is coming for me. I dont quite drag it to the Flyfish, so I just shoot its red spot to start, and finish the Flyfish splat afterwards. I kinda waste the egg I get, though, but luckily not the ones from the Maws, splatted right next to the spot. That gets Joes attention, and I drag it on to a Scrapper and Drizzler, and splat a Drizzler manually for a bunch more eggs. Joe is looking weaker, and gets weaker on its next lunge, where I decide to throw my Inkstrike at its spot. Thats almost enough, and although I dont aim for its spot on the next surfacing, a squidmate must do, the damage Joe takes. And that is enough to splat them, with over twenty seconds to go. Good work, squad! Mr Grizz likes our performance too, giving us two gold scales among the rewards. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Quick thinking at the end of Clam Blitz [11-5, Range Blaster]
Hiding on the block is doing nothing! I poke out, and still no one comes. I blast down the side, getting a glancing hit, but still nothing. But maybe Im tempting someone, rather than being tempted myself. The Luna Blaster makes a move, and I anticipate it. Nice! I then spot the Wellstring ahead of me and close in for a second splat, only to be easily surprised by the Inkbrush. That tends to happen. I return to see a dropped power clam and move to reclaim it. That makes me a target, which would be fine if it was a one-vs-one, or I could hit my shots, but neither is true. So it goes.
Were losing turf, if not points, so I sit back and defend for a while. Not that theres much to defend from, but I gain more turf. I kinda sneak up a bit and splat the Inkbrush by accident, which is good, but have to run from a Hammer. That puts me in a good flanking position, but I whiff my shots and get caught by the Wellstring/Luna Blaster combo. Still our turf control is receding, and now the yellow team are attacking. I get a decent splat on the Luna Blaster, but not before they make their throw that breaks our barrier. At least the one power clam is all that hits our basket.
I ink more turf on my return, before running from a Killer Wail targeting a squidmate. The Bamboozler chases me down the flank, but rather than battle them I instead make a dash forwards, along a handily left Inkbrush trail. I get to the basket, where I call for anyone to super-jump to me, but they are splatted or otherwise engaged. Never mind, back looking for clams, or splatting the Bamboozler who gave up the chase, and the Inkbrush not looking behind them. Now maybe we can push. I get on to the hut, dont quite splat the Luna Blaster, and get chased off the hut by the Bamboozler, where the Wellstring finishes me off. It wasnt much of a push.
I spot the Wellstring sneaking down the flank and turn them away, and keep pressing forwards, which I think is going well until our barrier is broken again. Still, its just the one power clam again, so I keep a forward presence, and hop back on the hut, which is maybe diversion enough for a squidmate to score. Nice! This time I splat the Bamboozler who comes to meet me, but I dont see the Splat Bomb at my squiddy feet, and we only manage the one power clam in to the yellow basket. Its a start, though.
I return to chase the Wellstring and somehow splat the Luna Blaster instead, before popping up just where the Bamboozler didnt want me. A Hammer appears but doesnt chase me, thankfully, but then the dreaded sound of the clock ticking down the final ten seconds hits my ears. Were losing, I dont have a power clam, and time is running out. A power clam has been dropped ahead, so I go that way, and recover it from another squidmate splatted trying to pick it up. It felt with their splatting, though, leaving me out of action. Never mind, I simply throw it back up and hope it gets collected. Which it does!
I dont think my power clam is scored, but another one breaks the barrier, and the one I threw serves to distract the yellow team from my little clams. Or maybe the Hammer just needed to pause because of their big turning radius. At this point, we just need one clam to win, and I have six. I also worked out in a previous battle that I can throw clams from behind the fence and hit the basket. So while the yellow team pepper me with shots, I launch a clam from afar, and secure the victory. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Weird-mode Tower Control [18(5)-4, Range Blaster]
Oh, hello E-litre 4K Scope. I think thats an inkling I need to keep under control. I have to get close first, of course, and they are doing a good job of not letting anyone do that. But a bit of patience, a bit of testing the waters, and I get a good shot on them. Hopefully that will have them watching their back a little. With the E-litre 4K out of the way, and my squidmates getting more splats, its time to ride the Tower. A squidmate joins me, so I can hop off and probe ahead. I see the E-litre 4K again, but my first blast only glances them, and I stay for the super-jumper. Still, I need to retreat, as Ive attracted attention. Not that I get far.
My squidmates do an excellent job of keeping the Tower moving, despite little apparent presence. I go back the slow-ish route, which works for me, as I find the E-litre 4K again, and hit them this time. I then catch up with the Tower, but at the wrong time, as the teal team are getting splats, and Im caught up in it. I return to see a squidmate in peril. Id like to help them out, but can only avenge them. And get splatted in the process. No bother, back I go once more, where we seem to be moving backwards a little. I take my time, find a nice place to wait, and pop out to get a nice clutch of splats.
Its safe to ride the Tower a little more. Or it nearly is. The E-litre 4Ks laser sweeps over me, but Im just at the limit of their range. I hop off, squid forwards, and splat them. Then its back on the Tower. I hop off to catch the .52 Gal coming my way, but fluff the ambush and have to squid back up the ramp. When I do, the E-litre 4K is back. I get a glancing blow, wait for them to come out, then try to flush them out, but no dice. And the Tower is getting away. I give chase, only to be surrounded, or what feels like it, and not know which direction to turn. Its no surprise Im splatted.
The teal team have taken the Tower and have managed to put a score up. A bit of defence stirs things up a bit, and we soon have the Tower going forwards again, and the teal team beating a retreat. I push rather aggressively forwards. One inkling squids past me, jumping off the ledge to intercept the Tower. I dont think they make it. I hold my position, and blast the E-litre 4K quite efficiently, which Im almost sorry for. Splatting the Splat Dualies after is just a lucky shot. How Im not then caught by the Dualie Squelchers is a mystery, and that I splat them instead is just peculiar. But never mind, were crawling closer to the goal.
I spot another opportunity to splat the E-litre 4K and take it, as my squidmates get more splats to complete a Wipeout. Maybe we can trundle on to the goal. I take that inkling and maybe get a bit too confident with it, as I stand without shooting, with ink flying in, as I do indeed hit the goal for the team. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Almost one-way traffic in Tower Control [14(5)-3, Range Blaster]
Weve got a full squad, which means our power rating is much more accurate than my trying to battle in S+! It may also mean that Im slightly hitting above my weight, but Im okay with that for tonight. It doesnt look like anyones sneaking up the wall, so I just squid around and ink some turf, before moving back up to try to help stop the Tower. I think I manage that, in that I try to help. But I get a splat, as the Splatana desperately tries to fend me off. Ill take it, as my squidmates take the Tower. They go a-splatting as I take over on the Tower, and thus I waste another Wave Breaker, as they get the Wipeout. I think Im okay with that too.
The blue team return, and I leap off the Tower to try to intercept one. I splat the Splatana on the ledge above, and keep blasting until the Wellstring inadvisedly drops down to get closer, and I manage to get a shot on target on them too. Thats another Wipeout, now we just need someone on the Tower. Here come the blue team again, and my interception isnt as successful. Worse, I hear a Kraken. That gets me running away to safety, and I turn to see the monster crawling all over the Tower.
The Kraken flees early, trying to save its skin, and I give chase. I really could have splatted the E-litre 4K, and their nearby friend, with better blasts, but I graciously give the opportunity to a squidmate, and their bunching grants us another Wipeout. Back on the Tower, until the two ranged blue squids stand next to each other, a couple of blasts splatting them away, and the N-ZAP being caught by a pair of us. The Splatana stops my streak, splatting me nicely from behind, but their stint on the Tower is short.
I super-jump back to a Beakon, and soon find myself alone. I probably should retreat, provide a good super-jumping spot for my squidmates, but Im feeling flush, so throw myself at the Tower instead. Now I take the slow way back, although my squidmates are holding the blue teams turf. The Towers stalled, though, and being watched over by the E-litre 4K. I hide in an Inkstrike and pop out to surprise them, and squid around to the Tower just in time to clear it with a good shot. I get a bit flustered going around the corner again, but thankfully Im not splatted, even if we lose the Tower for a bit.
We try to round the corner again, and this time I hop the ledge, trying to get behind the blue team. I think it works, but where are the blue team? The E-litre 4K reappears, and is splatted when under such pressure, but I cant see anyone else and I would like to share the glory on the Tower. I could too, if I paid attention to my surroundings, and didnt just dismiss the absence of blue inklings ahead of me as an absence of blue inklings everywhere. Never mind, my squidmates still push the Tower to the goal. Woomy! Splatoon 3: Almost one-way traffic in Tower Control [14(5)-3, Range Blaster]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/OH-o08t8U7c/mqdefault.jpg)
![Splatoon 3: Getting gold in Salmon Runs Big Big Run [52-50-64, 43/883]
Silvers fine, I guess. But I want more. And maybe Barnacle & Dime is the place to do it. I even get a Wellstring V as the first weapon, which is pretty sweet, as Ive been using it in ranked for a while. Or maybe its a kick in the tentacles, as everyone else has a Grizzco Roller, officially the funnest weapon available. Fine, Ill be shooting Steelheads, then. And reviving my loony rollers as they immediately roll in to trouble. And I suppose the t=rollers do keep the turf clear, letting us dunk a good amount of eggs. But, oop, here comes one of those Steelheads. Ive got a job to do. And I dont do it. Never mind, moving on, which I do, until a Chum smacks me around the back of the head. Im revived quickly, which is the only way a Grizzco Roller can revive anyone, and cram some last-second eggs in to the basket, for a good total thats above average to hit gold.
On to the second wave, and I get the Grizzco Roller! Time to run about like a loony. And maybe splat bosses, mostly by squishing. Including Maws, who can be squished. I dont know how the Steelhead bomb doesnt splat me, but maybe it cant keep up with my speed, but I dont risk it a second time. I even try to splat a Steelhead with the awkwardly slow vertical flick. I would have done it, I think, if a squidmate hadnt splatted it a full second before my flick finished. Its cool, Ill just run eggs to the basket. With my steam-powered roller! I can squish and deliver eggs, which is good, and I avoid Steelhead bombs, right until I dont. That might leave us an egg shy in the final count, but were above average again in the second wave. Were looking good for gold.
The final wave has the water level recede, and I get Dualie Squelchers. Theyll do, even with two more Grizzco Rollers in the squad. At least I can splat the Stinger efficiently. And I can actually splat Fish Fingers, unlike the Rollers, so its good to have some variety. It would be good to have someone tell me a Maws is nibbling my toes, but we cant have everything. I am revived, deliver the Fish Finger eggs, and splat a Flyfish the easy way, with a Lid. Now to deliver some eggs, while keeping a Scrapper at bay and Chum off my case. Another Fish Finger needs splatting, this time sans Maws, and up at the top I can see everything looks pretty sweet around the basket. Busy, but easily manageable. So we manage the Flipper and Maws and whatever else, and catch a couple of Snatchers on their way to the sea, leaving eggs lying around, ready to be dunked. We easily surpass our decent tallies of previous waves, ensuring us the gold! Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Charging forwards in Tower Control [17(1)-5, Splat Charger]
Im taking the opportunity of being in B-rank to brush up my charger skills. Ill stick with the basic Splat Charger for now. I like the Splat Bombs, and have seen the Ink Vac used against me effectively enough to have a good idea of what it can do. I also need to hit some shots, but this is essentially practice, and I will be missing quite a few. At least in Tower Control I have a good, big target to aim for occasionally, and is the source of my first splat. First two, in fact. An opportunistic Splat Bomb gets my third, and a poor super-jump grants us the Wipeout. Now to ride the Tower.
No purple inklings come close for a bit, and I get to whip out an Ink Vac as we head in to hostile turf, sucking up Suction Bombs left and right. The inksplosion gets a splat too, which is nice, and running away lets me splat an inkling looking to recover the Tower a little early. We get more time to ride the Tower, which is nice, but my aim lets me down as the purple team return, missing the Splattershot Pro a couple of times, before they splat me too easily. I return to be a bit wary of the battle around the Tower, even running away to our turf at one point, but bolstered when I splat a pursuer hampered by a block. I get another splat as I move back towards the Tower, but with a Splat Bomb. Back to aiming, I miss whoevers hiding on the Tower, and rather than sensibly keep my distance, I let them get close to exact another splatting.
I dont super-jump back, which turns out to be sensible, as my squidmates all get splatted. I hide instead, not seeing a need to poke my head out from the ramparts, until my squidmates return. A Splat Bomb gets a splat, and an inkling getting on the Tower is a nice target. I shift my position and start missing shots, something an Ink Vac helps mitigate, and then were back on the Tower. Moving around the corner has a shot find a hiding inkling by accident, but when an obvious inkling jumps my way I cant hit them. So it goes.
More misses as I return, not being able to steady my aim at the Tower. At least I run away from the B-bomb, if not the Hammer. I honestly wasnt sure if the Ink Vac sucked it up. It doesnt, which seems obvious now. The purple team are making good progress, and are threatening our lead. I try to get sensible, but my poor aim and timing arent helping. At least my squidmates are being effective, stopping the Tower and turning it around, and even securing a Wipeout so that we can keep our lead intact. I cant even get on the Tower.
But then I find some mojo. I spot an inkling hitting our flank and splat them nicely, following that shot with a splat on a jumper. I miss the inkling on the ledge, but after avoiding a Suction Bomb I hit the inkling squidding directly towards me. As we round the corner I pull out another Ink Vac, sucking in lots of purple ink and throwing it back for a splat, as I jump off the Tower to avoid an Inkstrike. Or one part of the Inkstrike. I squid directly in to another part of it. But never mind, time is short, and the purple team have a long way to go. I run away from a Hammer, just about dodge a pair of Suction Bombs, and position myself to help clear the Tower for a squidmate to secure our victory. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Winning almost by default in Tower Control [19(7)-6, Range Blaster]
Im awake! But a little reluctant. I see the Stamper coming and dont really want to run in to them, although I think a squidmate thinks Im not doing anything. No, Im cool, and happy to see the Stamper super-jump out. I hop forwards and get a couple of assists near the Tower, and a bona fide splat after I hop on. Id still rather sit at the back in support, though, given my recent achievements of getting splatted an awful lot, and I do get a bit paranoid about inklings coming to hit us from behind. Not this time, all in front! My Wave Breaker could help finding hidden inklings. Or it could get a splat, as could a decent potshot over the pinklings ledge. Thats a Wipeout too, and we can ride the Tower in peace in to a decent lead, until the Clash Blaster appears.
I remain cautious, although lobbing a Suction Bomb and then coming out blasting is hardly showing caution. Running away is, as is inking the pink turf all around me and taking the long route back instead of jumping over the ledge. Still, we have the lead, its up to the pinklings to ride the Tower now, more so than us. Its good to be able to keep a Crab off us and not shooting too. Still the pinklings dont get on the Tower. Im not going to either, not to present them with a target. I dont really need to anyway sometimes.
Finally, in the fourth minute, the pinklings get on the Tower and start scoring. Theyre not on it for long, thanks to my squidmates, probably the Hydra Splatling in particular, and I help in splatting the Heavy Edit Splatling. I do rather have to hide from another Crab, though, only to survive that and fall foul of the Clash Blaster. So it goes. Both teams lose two squidmates at the same time, which is an opportunity for the pinklings to ride the Tower. I stop it early, splatting their Range Blaster off, before stumbling in to the Heavy Edit Splatling, and somehow splatting them too. I see a pinkling riding the ink rail and try to splat them too, but my first shot misses, and as it is the Clash Blaster, thats enough to get me splatted.
I wait out another Crab as I return, still nearly getting splatted by it even then, and splat the Stamper for their efforts once they transform back. I manage to encounter the Clash Blaster and come away with a splat too, which is nice, and stops another pink push, helped by getting a lucky direct hit on the Heavy Edit Splatling gunning for me. That just leaves the Range Blaster, who I stumble in to and run away from. I move up to throw another Wave Breaker, accidentally running in to all sorts of trouble. Im lucky to get a splat before Im gone too.
We get in to the dying seconds of the battle, and the pink team have hardly done anything with the Tower. That gives me confidence to launch myself at the Tower as they desperately try to turn the battle around in overtime. Too much confidence, I would say. My tactics prior to this moment served me much better. Thankfully, a longer-ranged Suction Bomb works better, stopping the Tower just before our lead was threatened, and allowing my squidmates to secure the victory. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Someone was hogging the eggs in Salmon Run [40-41-42-xs, 7/2029]
Tornados a pretty straightforward wave overall. And with a Hydra Splatling and Splat Roller we should be mowing down the interfering Chum. Were not, but we should be. I also get splatted, which is embarrassing. Still, its a wave that is difficult to get too wrong, and we breeze in to the second wave. A Cohock rush also tends to be straightforward, if you know what youre doing. I like being in a cannon for this one, and generally have a good time of it all, even when I miss a Stinger completely when its middle pots are shot away. Its quite impressive.
The final wave is a special wave too. This one features Grillers. This shouldnt pose problems either, with the Splat Roller to squish Smallfry and the Hydra Splatling to stop and splat Grillers efficiently. I end up using a Crab partly because I drain my tank using a Splat Bomb to revive a squidmate and partly because its the final wave and I can. We lose coherence shortly after, with Grillers going every which way and Smallfry on the loose, but its nothing we cant recover from. And we can use the time to stuff the basket a little more. Its all pretty smooth in the end.
But its not the end! Zuna pays us a visit. I have the Squeezer, which is fine, even when I find myself cornered by a Steelhead. Zuna tries to jump me too, but I can get away, unlike when Chum push me back in to a Maws. I get a bit lost, and a bit lucky when squeezing past a Steel Eel that isnt after me, but I return to my little ledge to get back to the action, where Zuna is neatly splatted with seconds left on the clock, bagging us a neat four silver scales. Lets go Snipewriting! I head up the column and start shooting. The salmonids are obliging, by sending only Big Shots and a Steelhead, none of them coming my way, and then I head to the basket to dunk the cannoned eggs. I hit a Steelhead, help with a Stinger probably, and dunk more eggs. A Maws is easy eggs, but things start to get sticky and I am dodging too much. I bring down a Lid but weirdly go for more eggs instead of splatting more bosses, but I get the message as I dodge more and more. I cant choose what to hit, though, which isnt helping anyone. I finally make my choice, and end up dropping down to pull out a first-wave Crab to alleviate the pressure in the last few seconds. It worked for me.
Im Big Swigging it for the second wave. I dont need to help with the Flyfish so I save my ink and head up the Fish Finger instead, which is splatted by the time I get to the top. Okay then. I let my squidmates continue in their direction and watch the other, where I splat a Fish Finger and run away from a Maws, only to get splatted by a Steelhead bomb I didnt see. Everyones too busy to revive me for a bit, and I can only see one inkling, but I am revived eventually. I spin a Stinger and start to get eggs in to the basket, which we kinda need, helped by a Steel Eel and Scrapper near the basket. A couple of Flippers help too, the Big Swig great at making them flop. Two of us combine on a Steelhead, and another Scrapper and Flipper push us nicely over quota. It felt pretty close, though.
The final wave grants me a simple Splattershot, and again the salmonids come from the right to start. We stick to the high turf initially, but drop down for an egg or two. Running back to the basket finds a Steel Eel to splat from behind, and pushing forwards splats a Fish Finger without fuss. The eggs are flowing now, and I nearly make a mistake bringing down a Snatcher too early, and then wonder if I just let it get away instead. I cant see it. Never mind, there are always more eggs. Indeed, there are loads lying around, and more bosses to splat. My squidmates secure quota while I splat a Stinger, and I return to add to the tally by bringing down a Lid. Nice!
But were not finished! Boros is here. I have the Splattershot Jr, which might be lacking in range for this, so I mostly focus on whats on the turf to start. Getting some height helps hit Boros, at least, and we have eggs available to inksplode the Boros Bomb. But I also spy a Stinger, and although it is far away it could cause problems, so I head its way. Its good I do, as a squidmates Inkstrike doesnt quite reach. Another bomb inksplodes in Boross mouth, and its looking good, but when I face a Steelhead I fail to insta-splat it with an egg and try to shoot it normally. Thats not a good decision, and Smallfry make me pay for it. Im revived and get more height again, where I pull out my Crab and start shooting. Along with a B-bomb and Inkjet, we hit Boros with a whole lot of ink in a short time, and splat it soundly. Id say thats worth five silver scales. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Tight end to Tower Control [22(7)-7, Range Blaster]
Im forever inking walls at the start of battles. It serves a purpose. Maybe not immediately, but it will. I also notice the Carbon Roller on the other team. That concerns me, as their speed and mobility will be a threat. I cant see them as I approach the Tower, and I have checked the walls around me, so I feel safe, which is just the right time for them to squid up the one wall I havent checked and splat me. I nearly inked myself. My squidmates get some revenge, and are pushing the Tower, so all is well, and I risk a super-jump back, landing safely. The Luna Blaster is behind the wall, and I blast a couple of times to keep them honest, but Im still fearing the Carbon Roller. Theyre not around, and theres the Luna Blaster, so I get my first splat, at least.
The Carbon Roller makes their whereabouts known too, thankfully just as I have pulled back. They leap away, but I follow, and mess up the splat. But I get an assist. And then its on to helping the Tower. The Carbon Roller is back immediately! That cant be right. Oh, theres two of them. Im not worried. I blast a bit, then hop on the Tower with a squidmate inflating a Bubble for our protection. I stick to the Tower and blast ahead, splatting the Luna Blaster, and eventually the Explosher, but at the expense of being splatted. Still, for getting two steps away from the goal, that was probably worth it.
I return as the pinklings return the Tower. I avoid a Hammer, and slink under the Tower to surprise the Explosher, and then a Roller from behind. I dont know where anyone else is, though, so I throw out a Wave Breaker, which helps a little, as I move back to our side. Then its forwards again, where a Roller is splatted behind a wall, but the Explosher survives just long enough to activate a Splashdown. The Luna Blaster splats me in all the action, but two squidmates survive and hop on to the Tower. I super-jump back, and spend some time inking walls to stop pinkling movement, and catch the Luna Blaster as I wait for my squidmates to return.
The Tower isnt going anywhere, not when I splat the Carbon Roller off it, but the Explosher remains a threat. I move up to try to splat them, but my shot misses, and they run away after a Splashdown. A Wave Breaker doesnt find them, so I move to the Tower, but just when a Hammer is pulled out. That was poor timing. The pinklings ride the Tower and extend their score, even if they have a long way to go. I make use of the inked walls to lurk, popping out to inexpertly clear the Tower and the turf around. Then its forwards to take on the Explosher, before trying to avoid whatever else is going on. I hang back to make sure no ones around, which works well, as the Luna Blaster pops up behind the Tower and breaks out a Hammer. I have no qualms shooting them in the back.
In more exciting news, our Blaster has disappeared, and has been gone for a good half-minute. Thats not good! I havent noticed yet, which is why I am still happy to go on the offensive, and we do well to push the Tower further than the pinklings have, and get close to the goal again. But we only get so far. And thats when I realise were down a squidmate. Maybe I panic a little, or just get a bit anxious, so I hide and wait for an ambush again. But the Tower is so far away, and takes so long to get here. I leap out early, confident in my aim, but dont clear the Tower. At least we have a big lead to play with, and I have Suction Bombs to throw. One sticks to the Tower and splats the Epxlosher mid-Splashdown again, and although Im splatted, the Tower is cleared for just long enough for a squidmate to bravely hop on, and secure as the short-handed victory.
