South Boulder Peak, elevation 8,549’, is the tallest peak in Boulder, Colorado. The most popular way to summit this peak is by way of Shadow Canyon starting from S Mesa Trailhead. Total hiking stats: 8.5 miles with 2,950’ elevation gain. I did this hike a day after a big snow storm which dumped anywhere between 2-4ft of snow in the Boulder foothill, which made the hike more difficult than usual due to constant postholing
