There's a lot to unpack with this run so this description will be a bit.
Technically, it's faster to use luigi, but I like the fact that mario smashed the last record by a second... even if luigi only saves like 6 frames or so. The only way mario is faster is by long jumping asap and then doing a frame perfect ground pound.
0:26 - It turns out right side coins first here is faster by a significant margin.
0:28 - 0:32 - These coin routes are improved and also really easy to miss a coin doing.
0:43 - If I could maintain speed while grabbing the last two coins without going in a little loop that would save time, but the coins don't line up well for that
0:50 - You can no longer miss a coin without messing up cycles. There's a section you can change the camera to try and fix them on small mistakes, but it can be costly anyway.
0:54 - This moving platform gives speed only if you jump from closer to the middle of it and also don't change direction at all when the flutter has started. even then it sometimes didn't work
1:00 - I grab this bulb berry late to avoid grabbing the last bulb berry. This is to avoid any lag frames tonguing the fruit might cause.
1:01 - Instead of killing my speed to make these stairs, I found a spot to put a loop that didn't waste much time. Again taking out the loop and being able to maintain speed would save time, but the coins don't line up well.
1:09 - This platform ruins a lot of runs because of its tight cycle.
Mostly, this run was solid. Not too much time left to save (outside of luigi ofc). I did try using the yoshi slide technique in the very first section, but it might be slower than just walking due to the start up of that tech.
