The first few varieties of blackberry I tried planting in kentucky would get killed by spring blight. While I was trying to find a blight resistant variety to try, I started reading about these plants that produced two crops, one in the spring and one in the fall. I decided to try them thinking "if they get killed back in the spring maybe they will still produce a fall crop" and sure enough, that is exactly how it has played out every year now for 5 or 6 years in a row.
