Professional data communication equipment is on another level. That’s why I was quite excited when I got my hands on that Siemens Attane i210. It’s quite vintage too. I estimate it to be from the early 2000s or very late 1900s ;-)

After a walk around and unsuccessfully trying to switch that thing on, we take it apart to reveal a large and rather full board. It has everything: DSPs, CPLDs, FPGAs, dedicated communication chips, a legion of 74s – but not a single CPU/MCU.
