What’s the goal, why this design, and how it will be done …

This should have been the first video published about this project, but I needed to order some parts, and so I already uploaded a first design video (link below). Anyway, let’s do a proper project kick-off now and give you an overview.
First I explain what’s meant by full (!) fly-by wire. Then we discuss the choice of electric outboards. After a system overview I explain why RS-485 has been chosen as interface. Finally I give you the big picture and show where this project fits in.
