My submission for the Hardware Jams “Attack of the Trolls” Weekend Challenge.
As the Blue Mist Mountains story continues I hope to serenade the Mountain Trolls with drones and growls that may appeal to them. If we can keep them happy till sunrise we might survive!!!
This week’s challenge prompt:
The music stops. Everyone exchanges nervous glances to one another. You reluctantly move to the door of the cabin, reach out your hand...
BAM!
Before you can open or lock the door, it's blown off its hinges in a cloud of dust.
The dust clears and standing there are three enormous Mountain Trolls, holding huge wooden clubs.
The music has disturbed them and they have awoken from hibernation. Now they are hungry... for human flesh.
Your only chance is to jam for your life. You could perhaps try to soothe them, or create some massive beats that Trolls might enjoy. Your survival depends on it.
Always Learning

I'm a strong believer in continuous improvement and always trying to learn something new. While creating this video I experimented with layering the chord organ as a background drone into the main lead sound. The chord organ was fixed in pitch and chord which lead to some interesting tonal qualities when layered with a square and saw that were changing in pitch. All this was filtered together for an interesting sound to listen to.
My DIY Synth Rules

I aim to meet the following criteria when adding modules to my synth:
◦ I must have constructed it.
This can be a kit or from scratch but I must have soldered it
◦ The audio signal path should be analog.
I'm trying to avoid digital modules so I can learn more about analog electronics
◦ Learn something new
Try to learn something while constructing the module. Learn about the circuits, experiment with different signal processing options. Be creative.
◦ Have fun
