My submission for the Hardware Jams “Architecture” Weekend Challenge.
The inspiration for my jam this week is the stone gargoyles and angel figures that you find on many old churches. I love that the gargoyles were where the stone workers got to have a bit of fun and created all sorts of characters to protect the building, some fierce, some funny, some downright wacky.
It was also new module time again this week as I’ve added the Kassutronics Quantizer to my system. I patched in a couple of lfos at different frequencies and then set the A cv to rotate the scale, which was connected to the beatstep. This allowed me to change the key of the arps at points in the jam.
I’ve also recently repaired my YS100 keyboard so set up some 4op FM bells to represent the bells on the churches many gargoyles are found on.

This week’s challenge prompt:
The idea this week is to create a jam, inspired by your favourite buildings around the world. Take an architectural masterpiece, or even a small architect work that inspires you and make the perfect jam for that building, something that can really be put inside of it and be played through the hi-fi system! The building can be a cathedral, a monument building like the Empire State building, the only requirement is that it needs to be a building.
Always Learning

I'm a strong believer in continuous improvement and always trying to learn something new. I’ve built a few modules recently so spent time learning the basic functionality of the quantizer module. I also learnt how to use the record/playback functionality on the Elmyra 2 which is providing the bass in this jam.
My DIY Synth Rules
════════════
I aim to meet the following criteria when adding modules to my synth:
◦ I must have constructed it.
This can be a kit or from scratch but I must have soldered it
◦ The audio signal path should be analog.
I'm trying to avoid digital modules so I can learn more about analog electronics
◦ Learn something new
Try to learn something while constructing the module. Learn about the circuits, experiment with different signal processing options. Be creative.
◦ Have fun
